Cloning and Overexpression of Strictosidine β-D-Glucosidase Gene Short Sequence from Catharanthus roseus in Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2019
Purpose: Strictosidine-β-D-glucosidase (SGD) is considered as a key enzyme in the production of bisindole alkaloids in Catharanthus roseus. The present study illustrated the production of a short sequence of this enzyme in Escherichia coli without codon ...

Biotransformation Of l‐Tryptophan To Produce Arcyriaflavin A With Pseudomonas putida KT2440

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 24, Issue 23, December 1, 2023., 2023
Arcyriaflavin A was produced in Pseudomonas putida KT2440 using genes from Lentzea aerocolonigenes. Cultivation conditions and supply of the precursor l‐tryptophan were optimized. Genetic engineering of outer membrane vesicle release and cultivation with polyurethane adsorbent resulted in product enrichment in the supernatant.

Antemitotic activity of strychnopentamine, a bisindolic alkaloid

open access: yesJournal of Ethnopharmacology, 1984
Strychnopentamine has been tested for its cytotoxic and antitumor activities and compared with two other bisindolic alkaloids that possess an usambarane skeleton. The presence of a N-methylpyrrolidine group increases the antimitotic activity of this type of alkaloids.

Enantioselective Strategies for The Synthesis of N−N Atropisomers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 135, Issue 31, August 1, 2023., 2023
Recent advances in the enantioselective synthesis of N−N atropisomers are highlighted and discussed within this Review. In particular, the strategies and breakthroughs to obtain this novel and stimulating atropisomeric architecture are presented while a particular attention is given to mechanistic aspects.

Assessment of Mechanisms Involved in Antinociception Produced by the Alkaloid Caulerpine

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
In previous works we showed that oral administration of caulerpine, a bisindole alkaloid isolated from algae of the genus Caulerpa, produced antinociception when assessed in chemical and thermal models of nociception.

Attempted Synthesis of Vinca Alkaloids Condensed with Three-Membered Rings

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Our successful work for the synthesis of cyclopropanated vinblastine and its derivatives by the Simmons–Smith reaction was followed to build up further three-membered rings into the 14,15-position of the vindoline part of the dimer alkaloid ...

A Simplified Procedure for Indole Alkaloid Extraction from Catharanthus roseus Combined with a Semi-synthetic Production Process for Vinblastine

open access: yesMolecules, 2007
Dried leaves of Catharanthus roseus were extracted with aqueous acidic 0.1 M solution of HCl. Alkaloid-embonate complexes were obtained as precipitates by treating the extract with an alkaline (NaOH) solution of embonic acid (4,4-methylene-bis-3 ...
