Cryopreservation of black chokeberry in vitro shoot apices.
Cryo letters, 2009In vitro shoot apices of black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa Elliott) were successfully cryopreserved utilizing three methods, namely vitrification, encapsulation-vitrification and encapsulation-dehydration. Encapsulation-dehydration and encapsulation-vitrification, however, seem preferable to vitrification, since the highest respective survival ...

Anticoagulant effect of polyphenols-rich extracts from black chokeberry and grape seeds
Fitoterapia, 2011Blood coagulation consists of a series of zymogens that can be converted by limited proteolysis to active enzymes leading to the generation of thrombin. Fresh plasma and human thrombin was incubated with extracts from berries of Aronia melanocarpa or seeds of Vitis vinifera (0.5; 5; 50 μg/ml).

Polyphenols extraction from black chokeberry wastes
2016Polyphenols are secondary metabolites of plants and are broadly distributed in fruits and vegetables. It is demonstrated that these compounds act as strong antioxidants which determines a variety of their medicinal properties. Wastes of black chokeberry after juice recovery were used to investigate the optimal conditions for maximal yield of ...

Polyphenolic and basic chemical composition of black chokeberry industrial by-products
Industrial Crops and Products, 2013Abstract The aim of the work was to examine basic and polyphenolic composition of chokeberry pomace fractions achieved as a result of industrial-scale processing of fruit into juice. As the result of sieving and pneumatic separation use two kinds of fractions were obtained: containing seeds and seedless ones.

Lipid composition of Bulgarian chokeberry, black currant and rose hip seed oils
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1999The lipid composition of chokeberry, black currant and rose hip seeds was investigated. The seeds contain 19.3g kg(-1), 22.0 g kg(-1) and 8.2 g kg(-1) glyceride oil respectively. The content of phospholipids, mainly phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylethanolamine, was 2.8 g kg(-1), 1.3 g kg(-1) and 1.4 g kg(-1) respectively.
