Further findings on the effects of fire on blackthorn

Numerous investigations into the effects of different types of fire on blackthorn were conducted. The basal stems of blackthorn were burned with a gas flame at soil level and 12 inches above soil level for periods of 1, 3 and 6 minutes respectively.
