Morphological determinants for the local hemostatic effect of exogenous fibrin monomer in its systemic administration after injury with inhibition of platelet aggregation in the experiment

open access: yesActa Biomedica Scientifica, 2023
Background. In our previously published studies, we demonstrated a high hemostatic activity of a low dose of exogenous fibrin monomer during its systemic administration in a model of dosed liver injury with preliminary inhibition of platelet aggregation.

Advances in the application of lyophilized platelets and derivative products

open access: yesZhongguo shuxue zazhi, 2023
Platelets are important components of the blood system. There are many kinds of concentrated platelets and their derivatives, among which platelet-rich plasma (PRP ), growth factors (GFs) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) have been widely used in clinical ...

Predicting Chronicity in Children and Adolescents With Newly Diagnosed Immune Thrombocytopenia at the Timepoint of Diagnosis Using Machine Learning‐Based Approaches

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...

Assessment of the influence of the inflammatory process on the activation of blood platelets and morphological parameters in patients with ulcerative colitis (<i>colitis ulcerosa</i>)

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2011
Ulcerative colitis (<i>colitis ulcerosa</i>) is a non-specific inflammatory bowel disease of unknown etiology. The symptoms which are observed in the course of ulcerative colitis are: an increase in the number of leukocytes and blood ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Transcellular metabolism of leukotriene A4 by rabbit blood cells: lack of relevant LTC4-synthase activity in rabbit platelets

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1997
The objective of this study was to determine the transcellular metabolism of leukotriene A4 by rabbit blood cells. mixed peripheral blood leukocyte preparations with and without platelets in a ratio of 1:40 were challenged with the Ca(2+)-ionophore ...

Platelets in Amyloidogenic Mice Are Activated and Invade the Brain

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2020
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease with a complex and not fully understood pathogenesis. Besides brain-intrinsic hallmarks such as abnormal deposition of harmful proteins, i.e., amyloid beta in plaques and hyperphosphorylated Tau in ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase 1 inhibition reverses cancer‐associated fibroblast‐mediated immunosuppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CAF‐mediated immunosuppression in ovarian cancer is driven by IDO1, reducing T‐cell function. Inhibiting IDO1 restores T‐cell proliferation and cytotoxicity, increases cancer cell apoptosis, and may help overcome CAF‐induced immune suppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer. Targeting IDO1 may improve antitumor immunity.
