Pathogenesis of thoracic ossification of the ligamentum flavum
Thoracic ossification of the ligamentum flavum (TOLF) is characterized by ectopic ossification of the ligamentum flavum in the thoracic spine and is considered the main cause of thoracic spinal stenosis and spinal cord disease.

RANKL signaling is essential for osteoclastogenesis. Its role in osteoblastic differentiation and bone formation is unknown. Here we demonstrate that RANK is expressed at an early stage of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) during osteogenic ...

Effects of erythropoietin on osteoblast in the tooth extraction socket in mice periodontitis model
Periodontitis is an excessive inflammatory event in tooth-supporting tissues and can cause tooth loss. We used erythropoietin (EPO), which has been reported to play an important role in bone healing and modulation of angiogenesis, as a therapeutic agent ...

The hepcidin regulator erythroferrone is a new member of the erythropoiesis-iron-bone circuitry
Background: Erythroblast erythroferrone (ERFE) secretion inhibits hepcidin expression by sequestering several bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family members to increase iron availability for erythropoiesis.

The Pattern of New Bone Formation in Isografts of Bone [PDF]
The pattern of new bone formation has been studied in isografts of fresh iliac bone and also in isografts of dead or irradiated iliac bone. Two phases of osteogenesis have been found in some fresh grafts. An early phase occurs during the first 3 weeks after transplantation, whilst the second phase is found after 8 weeks.

VEGF-expressing mesenchymal stem cells for improved angiogenesis in regenerative medicine : a bone tissue engineering approach [PDF]
Rapid vascularization of tissue-engineered grafts is a major bottleneck in the development of regenerative medicine approaches. In order to overcome this limitation, we aimed to develop a bone tissue engineering strategy combining cell therapy with pro ...

ABSTRACT Background Osteosarcoma (OS) and Ewing sarcoma (EWS) are the most common primary bone cancers in children, but acute thrombosis is poorly characterized in this population. Our study evaluated the rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and associated risk factors in pediatric patients with bone sarcomas treated over a 10‐year period encompassing
