Targeting bone microenvironment: Clinical implications

open access: yesThe Breast, 2015
Bone-targeting agents such as bisphosphonates are well established for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and the prevention of skeletal related events associated with bone metastases from solid tumours including breast cancer [1]. In the early breast cancer seeting, treatment-induced bone loss is a major clinical problem, leading to ...

UDP‐Glucose‐6‐Dehydrogenase Mediated O‐GlcNAcylation of Tight Junction Protein 1 Suppresses Metastasis in Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our research unveiled a regulatory paradigm wherein TRIM25 orchestrates the ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of UGDH. UGDH modulates the protein stability of TJP1 by regulating O‐GlcNAcylation levels, effectively impeding the metastasis of ccRCC. Our insights elevate UGDH to a pivotal biomarker and tumor suppressor, marking the first demonstration that ...

Chiral Nanoparticles Suppress Inflammatory Infiltration to Promote Extracellular Matrix Remodeling for Ectopia Lentis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
L‐cysteine‐configured chiral polyurethane nanoparticles suppress ocular inflammation and reduce extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation in ectopia lentis by regulating macrophages polarization and inhibiting nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway. By promoting zonular fiber‐associated protein restoration and tissue repair, this minimally invasive ...

GHRHR Deficiency Enhances Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Visual Functions in Experimental Glaucoma by Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Mast cells in the bone marrow microenvironment

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
The bone marrow microenvironment provides the necessary signals for the development from hematopoietic stem cells into mast cell precursors. Once released in the bloodstream, mast cells quickly migrate to peripheral tissues where they complete their differentiation.

A Clinical Study of Decellularized Tissue Engineering Hyaline Cartilage Graft (dLhCG) for Articular Cartilage Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current clinical approaches for knee cartilage repair are often limited by hypertrophy and fibrosis in the regenerated tissues. A decellularized tissue‐engineered hyaline cartilage graft (dLhCG), composed of a type II collagen‐based extracellular matrix, has been developed to overcome this limitation.

Functional Disorder at the Neural Interface: How Disordered Nanostructures Promote Proper Growth and Differentiation in In Vitro Neural Cultures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work provides a practical guide for neuroengineers to design advanced neural interfaces, embracing and tailoring the concept of functional disorder. By bridging 2D and 3D in vitro models, this work highlights how non‐periodic, spatially heterogeneous, multiscale nanotopography can enable more physiologically relevant platforms for studying neural ...

In Situ Stress‐Dispersing Hydrogel Millispheres via Load Redistribution to Restore Nucleus Pulposus Metabolic Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Local stress concentration disrupts metabolic homeostasis and induces inflammation in the nucleus pulposus (NP), thereby accelerating intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). A biomimetic HA/ChS hydrogel millimeter sphere (ChS@HM) is developed to enable synergistic stress dispersion and sustained hydration lubrication.

The roles of the nerve-immune axis in modulating bone regeneration

open access: yesBone Research
Bone is highly innervated, and its regeneration is significantly nerve-dependent. Extensive evidence suggests that the nervous system plays an active role in bone metabolism and development by modulating osteoblast and osteoclast activity.
