Varicella Zoster Virus Infection: Clinical Features, Molecular Pathogenesis, Treatment, and Prevention

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
This review focuses on the clinical features, molecular mechanisms, treatment methods, and preventive measures of the VZV, with the aim of providing a theoretical basis for the development of new treatment and prevention methods for HZ. ABSTRACT Varicella zoster virus (VZV) is a ubiquitous human herpesvirus that establishes lifelong latency and causes ...

Ensemble Docking of FDA‐Approved and Peruvian Phytochemicals Against Monkeypox Virus Telomere‐Binding Protein

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 9, 5 March 2026.
ABSTRACT Monkeypox is a reemerging zoonotic disease that has been spreading worldwide. Different approaches are being conducted to find effective treatments for this disease. To accelerate therapeutic discovery, we propose telomere‐binding protein (TBP) as a potential drug target because of its important role during virus maturation.

Diseño y síntesis de compuestos derivados de 2-fenilpiperazina. Nuevas ureas con potencial acción antiadenovirus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Los adenovirus (Adv) comprenden un gran grupo de complejos virus no envueltos, con un diámetro de 80 nm, simetría icosahédrica y ADN bicatenario. Fueron aislados por primera vez en 1953 como patógenos respiratiorios.

Blocking Lysine Crotonylation and Aerobic Glycolysis as Targeting Strategy Against mpox Virus Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 4, 19 January 2026.
Wei et al. report that MPXV infection induces aerobic glycolysis, a process mediated by the viral protein I3 through lysine crotonylation at its K102 residue. The acetyltransferase MYST1 catalyzes the crotonylation of I3 to inhibit the ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of WDR26.

The successful treatment of mpox with brincidofovir in renal transplant recipients—a report of 2 cases

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases
An mpox outbreak was declared in July 2022 by the world health organization (WHO). It causes a mild self-limiting disease however; in immunosuppressed hosts, it tends to cause severe disseminated infection.

Administration of Brincidofovir and Convalescent Plasma in a Patient With Ebola Virus Disease [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2015
From 2014 to May 2015, >26 000 Ebola virus disease (EVD) cases were reported from West Africa. We present a patient with EVD who received brincidofovir and convalescent plasma. The relative contributions of supportive care, investigational therapies, and patient's immune-response on survival could not be determined. Randomized trials are needed.

Efficacy of Brincidofovir in Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant Recipients With Adenovirus Infections

open access: yesJournal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, 2021
Abstract Background Adenovirus (AdV) infections are of particular concern in pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients as therapeutic options are limited. Brincidofovir (BCV) is the lipid-conjugated pro-drug of cidofovir (CDV) with oral bioavailability and higher ...
