Blubber Thickening Driven by UCP1 Inactivation: Insights from a Cetacean‐Like Transgenic Mouse Model

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
UCP1 inactivation of cetaceans in mice drives BAT whitening and iWAT hyperplasia, promoting fat accumulation for aquatic adaptation. Abstract Cetaceans possess thick blubber, a specialized adipose tissue essential for thermal insulation, a streamlined body form, energy storage, and buoyancy. However, the mechanisms that underpin this adaptation are not

Prognostic role of PET/CT volumetric parameters in paediatric Hodgkin lymphoma: A systematic review and expert recommendations from the International SEARCH for CAYAHL Group

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
A visual overview of the key findings from the 35 papers included in this systematic review evaluating the use of PET volumetric parameters in children, adolescents and young adults with Hodgkin lymphoma. Summary In adults with classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), metabolic tumour volume (MTV) is valuable for risk stratification.

Is there a role for cannabidiol in obesity, metabolic syndrome and binge eating?

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant phytocannabinoids isolated from the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is a lipophilic, non‐intoxicating substance that differently from Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) does not present the typical profile of a drug of abuse.

PDE4D and PDE3B orchestrate distinct cAMP microdomains in 3T3‐L1 adipocytes

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Basal conditions: •Ins/PDE3B lowers cytoplasmic cAMP (cyt‐cAMP) without affecting plasma membrane cAMP (pm‐cAMP). •Insulin decreases lipid droplet cAMP (LD‐cAMP) independent of PDE3B. •FGF1/PDE4D modestly reduces both cyt‐ and pm‐cAMP, while PDE4D alone can modulate LD‐cAMP. ISO stimulation: •Ins/PDE3B has minimal impact on cyt‐cAMP.
