Soluble C-Type Lectin-Like Receptor 2 Is a Biomarker for Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation [PDF]

open access: goldJournal of Clinical Medicine, 2021
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is induced by excess activation coagulation, and activated platelets are also involved in pathogenesis. Therefore, plasma levels of soluble C-type lectin-like receptor 2 (sCLEC-2), a new marker for platelet activation, can be expected as a marker of DIC in critically ill patients.

C-type lectin-like receptor 2: roles and drug target [PDF]

open access: goldThrombosis Journal
AbstractC-type lectin-like receptor-2 (CLEC-2) is a member of the C-type lectin superfamily of cell surface receptors. The first confirmed endogenous and exogenous ligands of CLEC-2 are podoplanin and rhodocytin, respectively. CLEC-2 is expressed on the surface of platelets, which participates in platelet activation and aggregation by binding with its ...

C-Type Lectin Receptors in Antiviral Immunity and Viral Escape

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
C-type lectin receptors (CLRs) are important pattern recognition receptors involved in recognition and induction of adaptive immunity to pathogens. Certain CLRs play an important role in viral infections as they efficiently interact with viruses. However,

C-type lectin-like receptor (CLEC)-2, the ligand of podoplanin, induces morphological changes in podocytes [PDF]

open access: greenScientific Reports, 2022
Abstract Podoplanin (PDPN) is intensely expressed on the podocyte membrane in an evolutionally conserved manner. CLEC-2, the endogenous ligand of PDPN, is highly expressed in platelets and also exists in a soluble form in plasma. Normally, podocytes are sequestered from CLEC-2, but when the glomerular barrier is injured, podocytes gain access ...

Super Formula for Diagnosing Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation Using Soluble C-Type Lectin-like Receptor 2 [PDF]

open access: goldDiagnostics, 2023
The scoring systems for disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) criteria require several adequate cutoff values, vary, and are complicated. Accordingly, a simpler and quicker diagnostic method for DIC is needed. Under such circumstances, soluble C-type lectin-like receptor 2 (sCLEC-2) received attention as a biomarker for platelet activation ...

Production of recombinant soluble dimeric C-type lectin-like receptors of rat natural killer cells. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2019
AbstractWorking at the border between innate and adaptive immunity, natural killer (NK) cells play a key role in the immune system by protecting healthy cells and by eliminating malignantly transformed, stressed or virally infected cells. NK cell recognition of a target cell is mediated by a receptor “zipper” consisting of various activating and ...

Galectin‐9 activates platelet ITAM receptors glycoprotein VI and C‐type lectin‐like receptor‐2 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2022
Platelets are multifunctional cellular mediators in many physiological and pathophysiological processes such as thrombosis, angiogenesis, and inflammation. Several members of galectins, a family of carbohydrate-binding proteins with a broad range of immunomodulatory actions, have been reported to activate platelets. In this study, we investigated the ...

Fucoidan Is a Novel Platelet Agonist for the C-type Lectin-like Receptor 2 (CLEC-2) [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2013
Fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide from Fucus vesiculosus, decreases bleeding time and clotting time in hemophilia, possibly through inhibition of tissue factor pathway inhibitor. However, its effect on platelets and the receptor by which fucoidan induces cellular processes has not been elucidated.

BACL is a novel brain-associated, non-NKC-encoded mammalian C-type lectin-like receptor of the CLEC2 family [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Natural Killer Gene Complex (NKC)–encoded C-type lectin-like receptors (CTLRs) are expressed on various immune cells including T cells, NK cells and myeloid cells and thereby contribute to the orchestration of cellular immune responses.
