NOD2-C2 - a novel NOD2 isoform activating NF-kappaB in a muramyl dipeptide-independent manner [PDF]
Background The innate immune system employs several receptor families that form the basis of sensing pathogen-associated molecular patterns. NOD (nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain) like receptors (NLRs) comprise a group of cytosolic proteins ...

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Monte Carlo Simulation of Ising Models with Dipole Interaction
Recently, a new memory effect was found in the metamagnetic domain structure of the diluted Ising antiferromagnet $Fe_x Mg_{1-x} Cl_2$ by domain imaging with Faraday contrast. Essential for this effect is the dipole interaction.

Guanylyl cyclase activity associated with putative bifunctional integral membrane proteins in Plasmodium falciparum. [PDF]
We report here that guanylyl cyclase activity is associated with two large integral membrane proteins (PfGCalpha and PfGCbeta) in the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Dysferlin forms a dimer mediated by the C2 domains and the transmembrane domain in vitro and in living cells. [PDF]
Dysferlin was previously identified as a key player in muscle membrane repair and its deficiency leads to the development of muscular dystrophy and cardiomyopathy. However, little is known about the oligomerization of this protein in the plasma membrane.

Domain regime in two-dimensional disordered vortex matter
A detailed numerical study of the real space configuration of vortices in disordered superconductors using 2D London-Langevin model is presented. The magnetic field $B$ is varied between 0 and $B_{c2}$ for various pinning strengths $\Delta$.

Calculating the Potential of C2 Domains for Membrane Binding [PDF]
A recent report in Molecular Cell demonstrates the ability of electrostatic calculations to predict the membrane binding properties of structurally characterized C2 domains and assign probable membrane targeting functions to numerous uncharacterized C2 domains.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Background/Objectives: Protein kinase C-δ (PKC-δ) is a pivotal regulator of cellular signalling, and its dysregulation contributes to oncogenesis. While certain isolated PKC-δ domains have been crystallised, the full-length architecture and interdomain ...
