Bioinspired Design and Synthesis of Polyphenolic Star‐Like and Hyperbranched Polyester Models

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Gallotannin‐inspired star‐like and hyperbranched aromatic polyesters were synthesized from D‐glucose and ABn‐type phenolic acid monomers, such as protocatechuic acid. This bioinspired approach afforded polyphenolic polymeric nanoparticles able to encapsulate hydrophobic dyes, opening new perspectives for biobased encapsulation and delivery systems ...

Effects of Lipoic Acid, Caffeic Acid and a Synthesized Lipoyl-Caffeic Conjugate on Human Hepatoma Cell Lines

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is among the most aggressive and fatal cancers. Its treatment with conventional chemotherapeutic agents is inefficient, due to several side effects linked to impaired organ function typical of liver diseases. Consequently, there exists a decisive requirement to explore possible alternative chemopreventive and therapeutic ...

Mechanistic Insights Into Sustainable Catalytic Pyrolysis of Biomass‐Derived Ferulic Acid: The Role of Alumina Regeneration

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Surface‐bound ferulate phenolate complexes undergo styrene‐like polymerization on alumina, yielding a polymeric carbonaceous layer that progressively transforms into polyaromatic carbon domains with concomitant release of aromatic products, while parallel surface‐assisted decarboxylation produces 4‐vinylguaiacol. ABSTRACT A fundamental understanding of

Fluorescence Behavior of Water‐Soluble Porphyrins Immobilized on LTA Zeolite and Its Chlorogenic Acid Polyphenol Sensing in Coffee Wastewater

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
During coffee bean and cherry washing, contaminants are released into water, making this process a major source of water pollution. Chlorogenic acid can be efficiently detected using hybrid zeolite–porphyrin materials by measuring fluorescence quenching, achieving detection limits lower than current regulatory thresholds.
