Authentication of Vegetable Oils from Lard Adulteration by Sterols Analysis: a case study of olive oil [PDF]
In this study, the sterols of 5 different vegetable oils (olive, canola, corn, sesame as well as sunflower) and an animal oil (lard) were analyzed by liquid-liquid extraction and gas chromatography.

Chromosomal location of a gene that controls sterol esterification in Triticum aestivum L. [PDF]
A previously described D genome locus (Pln) that controls sterol esterification in the wheat kernel has been assigned to the short arm of chromosome 7 D by comparison of the steryl ester phenotype of euploid kernels of Triticum aestivum variety Chinese ...

ABSTRACT Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) are toxic cholesterol‐derived secondary metabolites present in several Solanaceae species. In potato, tuber SGA levels are for reasons of toxicity of concern in both table and starch cultivars. In the latter, SGAs bind to proteins and fibres in starch production side‐streams and prevent their further uses as ...

Dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction and injection-port derivatization for the determination of free lipophilic compounds in fruit juices by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry [PDF]
A method consisting of dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) followed by injection-port derivatization and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) for the analysis of free lipophilic compounds in fruit juices is described.

Risk of cardiovascular disease is increased in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Cholesterol metabolism (hepatic synthesis and intestinal absorption) is known to be associated with cardiovascular risk. Next, we examined the association of DM with cholesterol absorption/synthesis.The CACHE Consortium, which is comprised of 13 research groups in ...

Improved Longan Genome Assembly Reveals Insights Into Flowering Mechanisms
ABSTRACT Longan is an exotic tropical fruit crop and exhibits off‐season flowering induced by potassium chlorate (KClO3), though the molecular mechanisms remain unclear. We assembled a high‐quality, 441.5 Mb genome of variety ‘Shixia’, with a contig N50 at 28.1 Mb, 29, 325 protein‐coding genes, 26 telomeres and 15 centromeres.

Genetic analysis of indicators of cholesterol synthesis and absorption: Lathosterol and phytosterols in Dutch twins and their parents [PDF]
Significant familial aggregation was observed for plasma levels of lathosterol (an indicator of whole-body cholesterol synthesis) and plant sterols campesterol and β-sitosterol (indicators of cholesterol absorption) in 160 Dutch families consisting of ...

ABSTRACT Plant viruses drive widespread crop epidemics, yet the host plant responses across different cell types, particularly how these responses are influenced by cultivars with varying genetic backgrounds, including the presence of resistance (R) genes, remain poorly understood. Using tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) and two tomato cultivars,
