Preferred Attribute Elicitation (PAE) in the Sensory Descriptive Analysis of Foods: A Deep Comprehensive Review of the Method Steps, Application, Challenges, and Trends

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 24, Issue 3, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Descriptive analysis (DA) is the gold standard for sensory profiling due to its robustness and reliability. However, its high cost, time demand, and labor intensity limit routine applications in the food industry. Rapid Sensory Profiling Techniques (RSPTs) have emerged as faster, less resource‐intensive alternatives to address these challenges.

A Blueprint for Building Resilience and Food Security in MENA and SSA Drylands: Diversifying Agriculture With Neglected and Underutilized Species

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, Volume 14, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
ABSTRACT Drylands, encompassing 41% of global land and supporting over 2 billion people, face significant challenges, including water scarcity, extreme temperatures, and soil degradation. Dryland spans vast areas of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Sub‐Sahara Africa (SSA) regions and poses a threat to food security and resilience.

Present‐Day Shortening Accommodated by Folding, Thrusting and Strike‐Slip Faulting in the Enriquillo Basin of Southern Central Hispaniola: Implications for the Regional Seismic Hazard

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Hispaniola accommodates a significant portion of the present‐day convergence between Caribbean and North American plates. Located in southern Hispaniola, the Neogene Enriquillo basin is bounded by the Neiba and Bahoruco mountain ranges. The role of active individual faults and fault systems in this basin is not well understood, particularly ...

Selection of Superior Genotypes in 37 Clones of Camu-Camu by Repetitivity Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science, 2017
In order to select camu-camu superior genotypes, a comparative of clones from natural populations, farmer plantations and an experimental field of the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA), was established in 2004 in varzea, at the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute (IIAP).

Ameliorative Effect of Glycerol Monolaurate on Glucose Dyshomeostasis in db/db Mice Associated With the PGC‐1α Signaling Pathway and Intestinal Microbiota

open access: yesJournal of Food Biochemistry, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Glycerol monolaurate (GML) has previously been demonstrated to improve insulin resistance in mice fed a high‐fat diet (HFD), yet whether GML can enhance glucose homeostasis in diabetic mice remains uncertain. In the current study, BKS mice and BKS‐db/db mice were fed a normal chow diet and administered GML solution by gavage for 9 weeks.

Influence of fermentation on the quality of Fijian Theobroma cacao beans over two harvest seasons

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Crop and Horticultural Science, Volume 52, Issue 4, Page 441-454, December 2024.
ABSTRACT Theobroma cacao beans are cultivated in Fiji by smallholder farms in low volumes, mainly for export. Cocoa beans are often processed under ambient conditions by farmers and cocoa processors. Postharvest processing includes natural fermentation from six to ten days in wooden boxes, followed by sun – drying in the open for up to 14 days.

Correlation and heritability Analysis in the genetic improvement of camu-camu

open access: yesScientia agropecuaria, 2012
In Peru and Brazil have been made between 2002 and 2011, correlation and heritability in search of tools for genetic improvement of camu-camu. We studied basic collections, comparative and progeny clones exist in the INIA, IIAP and INPA. The length of petiole (LP), has a half heritability (in the broad sense) of h2 g = 0.42 and correlation coefficients
