Random Insertion of mCherry Into VP3 Domain of Adeno-associated Virus Yields Fluorescent Capsids With no Loss of Infectivity

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2012
Adeno-associated virus (AAV)-derived vectors are promising gene delivery systems, and a number of design strategies have been pursued to improve their performance.

Protein chainmail: catenated protein in viral capsids.

open access: yesCell, 1998
The capsid shells of bacteriophage HK97 and several other phages contain polypeptides that are covalently linked into complexes so large that they do not enter polyacrylamide gels after denaturation. The enormous apparent size of these protein complexes in HK97 derives from a novel protein topology.

Generation of enhanced gene delivery vectors by directed evolution of adeno-associated virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Despite promising advance in the development of viral vectors based on AAV for human gene therapy, several major hurdles for a more general use remain.

In Silico Studies of Medicinal Compounds Against Hepatitis C Capsid Protein from North India

open access: yes, 2014
Hepatitis viral infection is a leading cause of chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Over one million people are estimated to be persistently infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) worldwide.

Functional studies on the rotavirus non-structural proteins NSP5 and NSP6 [PDF]

open access: yes
The rotavirus replication cycle has not been fully characterised, one vital stage of virus replication involves large cytoplasmic occlusion bodies termed viroplasms.

Genetic and Biochemical Analyses of the Flaviviridae Capsid Proteins

open access: yes, 2007
The small, enveloped viruses of the family Flaviviridae are etiological agents of numerous important human and agricultural diseases including hepatitis C, yellow fever, and bovine viral diarrhea.

Proteolytic Processing ofChlorellaVirus CVK2 Capsid Proteins

open access: yes, 1997
Chlorellavirus CVK2 particles contain several capsid proteins that are selectively released by treatment with 4Murea. Seven of them (Vp52, Vp45, Vp41, Vp25, Vp20.5, Vp20, and Vp16.2) have been identified based on amino acid sequences at the N-terminus ...

A facile chemical strategy to synthesize precise AAV-protein conjugates for targeted gene delivery

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Oncology
Current adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapies are limited by a lack of tissue-specificity, leading to toxic off-target impacts and increased therapeutic costs. More target-specific AAV vectors can offer safer and less expensive therapies.
