AGXX enhances aminoglycoside activity against multidrug‐resistant pathogens such as uropathogenic Escherichia coli by increasing reactive oxygen species, causing protein aggregation and DNA damage. This effect is reduced by oxygen limitation or antioxidants. Polyphosphate protects cells from oxidative damage.

Advanced age (≥60 years) was independently associated with higher mortality in solid organ transplant recipients, despite similar infection incidence. Even a single infection episode significantly increased mortality risk, underscoring the need for close clinical monitoring in elderly patients.
