Dielectric Constant of Liquids (Fluids) Shown to be Simple Fundamental Relation of Density over Extreme Ranges from - 50^o^ to + 600^o^C, Believed Universal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Examinations of past complex theoretical equations describing isothermal dielectric constants (_[epsilon]_) of liquids show that none describe experiments throughout and that only a two-constant equation of density is required.

Dimethyl‐, Diethyl‐, and Propylene Carbonates: An Emerging Class of Green Solvents for Organic Synthesis

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in the use of organic carbonates, dimethyl carbonate (DMC), diethyl carbonate (DEC), and propylene carbonate (PC), as solvents in organic synthesis. Based on over seventy studies from the past 6 years, it shows their application in different organic reaction types, emphasizing their role in safer and more ...

Hepatocyte TrkB Acts as a Gatekeeper Against MASH‐Related Liver Fibrosis by Suppressing the TGFβ/CCL2 Axis and Macrophage Infiltration

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Hepatocyte TrkB is identified as a critical gatekeeper against MASH‐related fibrosis. Mechanistically, TrkB inhibits the TGFβ/SMAD3/FOS axis to suppress CCL2 secretion, thereby blocking pathogenic macrophage recruitment and ameliorating liver fibrosis.

Improved Synthesis of 5-methylbenz(a)anthracene [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
A revised synthesis of 5-methylbenz(a)anthracene is reported. It involves only three simple and convenient steps starting from a commercially available compound, and gives a 82% overall yield.

Proteolytic remodelling of the extracellular matrix by pericytes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Pericytes are specialised perivascular cells intimately connected with endothelial cells and essential for the maintenance of vascular beds. They contribute to the formation and remodelling of the extracellular matrix by actively secreting proteases and protease inhibitors.

Mechanical stiffness orchestrates distinct regulation of MRTFs and YAP/TAZ transcriptional cofactors in hepatocytes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
MRTFs and YAP/TAZ proteins, or mechanosensitive transcriptional cofactors (MRTcoF), regulate common genes associated with cellular contractility and immune cell infiltration. Their differential regulation in response to stiffness is linked to changes in hepatocyte's aspect ratio. MRTFB does not undergo nuclear translocation under these conditions. This

Biochemical pathology of fatty liver induced by inhaled carbon tetrachloride, with specific reference to ATP and lipid metabolism in the mouse liver [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Cb strain female mice were exposed to 800 p.p.m. of carbon tetrachloride for 3 hours by the use of newly devised gas chamber via constant current of gas.
