ABSTRACT Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is characterized by cardiomyocyte death, excessive oxidative stress, inflammation, and ferroptosis, which collectively limit the efficacy of reperfusion therapy. In this study, we investigated whether kaempferol (KAE), a natural flavonol with antioxidative and antiinflammatory properties, could ...

Bioactive Natural Products in Cardiovascular Disease: Focus on Thrombotic Events
An overview of the role of natural products (NP) in cardiovascular disease prevention, highlighting key mechanisms of action: including antiplatelet, antithrombotic, anti‐inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. Additionally, it illustrates the integration of diet–drug interactions, nutritional epigenetics, and the role of artificial intelligence in ...

Schematic overview of the multi‐target and multi‐pathway mechanisms of PDBI in the prevention and management of hypertension. ABSTRACT Hypertension remains a major global risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, yet current treatments face challenges such as suboptimal blood pressure control and inadequate organ protection.

Cardioprotection by gene therapy: A review paper on behalf of the Working Group on Drug Cardiotoxicity and Cardioprotection of the Italian Society of Cardiology [PDF]
Ischemic heart disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide. Ischemic pre-, post-, and remote conditionings trigger endogenous cardioprotection that renders the heart resistant to ischemic-reperfusion injury (IRI).

Gentiopicroside Regulates EGFR and Induces Its Lysosomal Degradation to Attenuate Heart Failure
GPS attenuates pressure overload‐induced cardiac remodeling by promoting lysosomal degradation of EGFR. TAC‐induced EGFR accumulation activates AKT/ERK1/2 signaling and drives pathological cardiac hypertrophy, fibrosis, apoptosis, oxidative stress, and cardiac dysfunction. GPS promotes lysosome‐dependent EGFR degradation, thereby limiting excessive AKT/

Comparative Genomics and Functional Evidence for Convergent Adaptation to Hypoxia in Mammals
This study reveals convergent selection in mammals adapted to hypoxia. Functional assays demonstrate that amino acid mutations reduce oxidative stress, attenuate hypoxia‐induced injury, and modulate the hypoxia‐inducible transcription factor (HIF)‐driven hypoxic response.

An Introduction to Cardioprotection
• In its broadest sense, the term ‘cardioprotection’ encompasses ‘all mechanisms and means that contribute to the preservation of the heart by reducing or even preventing myocardial damage’• However, for the purposes of this book, the term ...

Non‐canonical PKG1 regulation in cardiovascular health and disease
It is well established that the cyclic GMP‐dependent protein kinase I (PKG1) is canonically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), enabling its regulation of vascular tone, cardiac function and smooth muscle homeostasis. However, diverse non‐canonical stimuli of PKG1 have also been identified.
