GPR124 Alleviates Blood–Brain Barrier Disruption by Enhancing Microvascular Endothelial Function after Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study reveals the protective role of GPR124 in maintaining BBB integrity and promoting neurological recovery following TBI. It makes a significant contribution by uncovering a novel molecular interaction between GPR124 and FGFBP1 and linking this to activation of the Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathway in vascular repair mechanisms.

Virtual screening and experimental analysis of caspase-7 inhibitors as candidates for extending the lifespan of CHO cells

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Biotechnology
Background: Chinese hamster ovarian (CHO) cells are widely employed in biotechnology for the production of recombinant proteins. Extending the life span of CHO cells and inhibiting the loss of producing cell population through the inhibition of apoptosis

Soybean antigen protein induces caspase-3/mitochondrion-regulated apoptosis in IPEC-J2 cells

open access: yesFood and Agricultural Immunology, 2020
β-Conglycinin and glycinin are known to induce various allergic reactions, however, but little is known about the mechanism underlying the development of allergy to soybean antigen proteins.

Caspase-3 inhibitor reduces p38 phosphorylation induced by hyperosmotic shock. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Oocytes were incubated with 200 mM sorbitol for 4 h in the presence or absence of caspase-3 inhibitor Z-DEVD.fmk (50 μM), or with 400 mM sorbitol for 1 h. Pools of 20 oocytes were collected and pp38, p38, cytochrome c (CC) and AMPK (loading control) were

Malectin Alleviates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus via Glycoprotein Quality Control Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Malectin alleviates high glucose‐induced ER stress and damage in placental trophoblasts, a function dependent on its six critical carbohydrate‐binding residues. In a GDM mouse model, administration of TAT‐Malectin ameliorated hyperglycemia and placental ER stress and prevented fetal macrosomia.

Reassessment of Caspase Inhibition to Augment Grafted Dopamine Neuron Survival

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2004
One experimental therapy for Parkinson's disease (PD) is the transplantation of embryonic ventral mesencephalic tissue. Unfortunately, up to 95% of grafted neurons die, many via apoptosis.

Perivascular Matrix Densification Dysregulates Angiogenesis and Activates Pro‐Inflammatory Endothelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Perivascular matrix densification promotes the emergence of aberrant endothelial tip cells (ATECs) that invade and persist within fibrotic microenvironments. Using in vivo lineage tracing and a human microvessel model, this study shows that fibrous matrix cues destabilize VE‐cadherin–mediated junctions to gate TGF‐β signaling, inducing a pro ...

Styrylpyrone Derivative (SPD) induces apoptosis in a caspase-7-dependent manner in the human breast cancer cell line MCF-7

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2003
Background Styrylpyrone derivative (SPD) is a plant-derived pharmacologically active compound extracted from Goniothalamus sp. Previously, we have reported that SPD inhibited the proliferation of MCF-7 human breast cancer cells by inducing apoptotic cell

LC3B Mediated SETDB1‐Accounted Alcoholic Steatohepatitis via Lipidation‐Dependent LAP and Lipidation‐Independent Nuclear Stabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SETDB1 is progressively downregulated in ALD, correlating with disease severity. SETDB1 deficiency impairs LAP by disrupting Rubicon membrane localization, leading to defective lipid droplet clearance. Concurrently, loss of SETDB1 reduces nuclear LC3B, causing R‐loop accumulation and cGAS‐STING‐driven inflammation. Lipidated LC3B mediates LAP‐dependent
