ABSTRACT This study investigates the chemical components of Youjing Granules (YG) and identifies blood‐absorbed components in rat serum following YG administration via gavage. Chemical components and blood‐absorbed components of YG were analysed and identified using ultra‐high‐performance liquid chromatography coupled with hybrid quadrupole‐orbitrap ...

Anti-diabetic activities of catalpol in db/db mice
The objective was to investigate the hypoglycemic action of catalpol in spontaneous diabetes db/db mice. 40 db/db mice were randomly divided into fi ve groups: model control gourp; db/db plus catalpol 40, 80, 120 mg/kg body wt. groups and db/db plus metformin 250 mg/kg group. Age-matched db/m mice were selected as normal control group.

Research progress of neurovascular units involved in ischemic stroke
The brain receives less blood when an ischemic stroke develops, which damages neurons and leads to an increased release of Pro‐inflammatory mediators that activate neurovascular unit (NVU). When the tight junctions are broken and the basement membrane is disrupted by matrix metalloproteinases produced by active endothelial and pericellular cells ...

Differential effects of insect herbivory on arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization. [PDF]
A series of field and laboratory experiments were conducted to examine whether natural levels of insect herbivory affect the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) colonization of two plant species.

Plant–herbivore interactions depend on plant richness, plant and soil history
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Insect herbivores play a central role in grassland ecosystems. They depend on plants for their nutrition and exert feedback effects on plant communities. Although such reciprocal relationships are well recognized, how they are shaped by plant community diversity and ...

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi affect phytophagous insect specialism [PDF]
The majority of phytophagous insects eat very few plant species, yet the ecological and evolutionary forces that have driven such specialism are not entirely understood.
