Alterations in cellular metabolism modulate CD1d-mediated NKT-cell responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Natural killer T (NKT) cells play a critical role in the host's innate immune response. CD1d-mediated presentation of glycolipid antigens to NKT cells has been established; however, the mechanisms by which NKT cells recognize infected or cancerous cells ...

Engineered CAR‐NKT Extracellular Vesicles Suppress Tumor Progression and Enhance Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
TM4SF1‐nanobody engineered CAR‐natural killer T–derived extracellular vesicles (CARTM4SF1‐EVs) provide a cell‐free alternative to CAR‐NKT therapy, achieving potent, targeted antitumor activity with reduced toxicity. CARTM4SF1‐EVs induce immunogenic cell death, remodel the tumor microenvironment, and enhance CD8⁺ T‐cell antitumor immunity.

Regulatory Role of CD1d in Neurotropic Virus Infection [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2008
ABSTRACTThe GDVII strain of Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV) causes an acute fatal polioencephalomyelitis in mice. Infection of susceptible mice with the DA strain of TMEV results in an acute polioencephalomyelitis followed by chronic immune-mediated demyelination with virus persistence in the central nervous system (CNS); DA virus ...

CD1d-dependent immune suppression mediated by regulatory B cells through modulations of iNKT cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Regulatory B cells (Breg) express high levels of CD1d that presents lipid antigens to invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells. The function of CD1d in Breg biology and iNKT cell activity during inflammation remains unclear.

Helminths as architects of trained tolerance: implications for human health

open access: yesClinical &Translational Immunology, Volume 15, Issue 3, 2026.
Abstract Helminths infect nearly 2 billion people worldwide and are a major cause of chronic morbidity in low‐resource regions. Unlike bacterial and viral pathogens that elicit protective memory, helminths actively remodel host immunity to enable their years‐long persistence and reinfection.

NKT TCR Recognition of CD1d-α-C-Galactosylceramide [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2011
Abstract NKT cells respond to a variety of CD1d-restricted glycolipid Ags that are structurally related to the prototypic Ag α-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer). A modified analog of α-GalCer with a carbon-based glycosidic linkage (α-C-GalCer) has generated great interest because of its apparent ability to promote prolonged, Th1-biased ...

Invariant NKT Cell Response to Dengue Virus Infection in Human [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND:Dengue viral infection is a global health threat without vaccine or specific treatment. The clinical outcome varies from asymptomatic, mild dengue fever (DF) to severe dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

38‐Marker Full‐Spectrum Flow Cytometry Panel for the Comprehensive Profiling of γδ T Cells in Human Blood and Lymphoid Tissues

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 3, March 2026.
This is an update to the Guidelines for the Use of Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting in Immunological Studies (Third Edition), Chapter 12C, by Cossarizza et al. A 38‐marker full‐spectrum flow cytometry panel enabling high‐resolution profiling of human γδ T cells across blood and lymphoid tissues, including robust identification of rare, tissue‐adapted ...

Mutation of the Traj18 gene segment using TALENs to generate Natural Killer T cell deficient mice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Invariant Natural Killer T (iNKT) cells are a unique subset of T lymphocytes that have been implicated in both promoting and suppressing a multitude of immune responses. In mice, iNKT cells express T cell antigen receptors (TCRs) comprising a unique TCRα

Tumor‐infiltrating B cells participate in shaping the immunosuppressive microenvironment in solid tumors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 5, Page 1156-1165, 1 March 2026.
Abstract Tumor‐infiltrating B cells (TIBs) exhibit dual roles in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of solid tumors. While they can enhance anti‐tumor immunity through antibody production and immune activation, certain subsets—such as regulatory B cells (Bregs) and immunosuppressive plasma cells—contribute to immune evasion by secreting inhibitory ...
