Use of CD9 and CD61 for the characterization of AML‐M7 by flow cytometry in a dog*

open access: yesVeterinary and Comparative Oncology, 2011
Acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia (AML‐M7) is a rare myeloproliferative disorder in domestic animals. Recently, thanks to the greater availability of immunophenotype techniques, precise diagnosis is more easily made. The morphological evaluation has its limitations, especially in the study of poorly differentiated cells.

Rare Bleeding Disorders and Bleeding Disorder of Unknown Cause: Current Understanding and Recent Developments

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rare bleeding disorders (RBDs) represent a diverse group of inherited conditions involving coagulation factors or platelets. These conditions, such as Glanzmann thrombasthenia (GT) or severe coagulation factor deficiencies, are uncommon. In contrast, bleeding disorder of unknown cause (BDUC) is a diagnosis of exclusion without an identifiable ...

Testing for Non‐Severe Heritable Platelet Function Disorders

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heritable platelet function disorders (HPFD) are a diverse group of bleeding disorders characterised by a primary qualitative defect in platelet function rather than platelet number. HPFD may be broadly categorised according to the severity of bleeding, with Glanzmann thrombasthenia and Bernard Soulier syndrome classically considered severe ...

Dilution‐Endpoint Comparison of a Flow Cytometric Platelet Activation Assay With PF4/Heparin ELISA and a Lateral Flow Immunoassay in Suspected HIT

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Heparin‐induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a rare but potentially life‐threatening, immune‐mediated adverse reaction to heparin. PF4‐dependent immunoassays are sensitive screening tests, but they detect both platelet‐activating and nonactivating antibodies; therefore, positive results require interpretation in clinical context and,

ICSH Guidance on Bone Marrow Examination and Reporting

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Examination of the bone marrow (BM) remains fundamental to the diagnosis, classification, prognostication, and monitoring of hematolymphoid and other disorders affecting blood cell production. Since publication of the International Council for Standardization in Haematology (ICSH) guideline in 2008, advances in diagnostic technologies, disease

Stem Cells From Dental Pulp, Periodontal Tissues, and Other Oral Sources: Biological Concepts and Regenerative Potential

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A graphical abstract recapping the different sources of dental, periodontal, and other oral‐derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their regenerative mechanisms and potentials. The review's article findings bridge fundamental biological science with translational advances, highlighting the significance of MSCs in craniofacial regenerative ...

Understanding extracellular vesicle biology, isolation, and characterization: The theory of EV‐erything

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Extracellular vesicles (EVs), especially exosomes, are nanoparticles increasingly recognized as key regulators of intercellular communication in both physiological and pathological aspects. Despite rapid progress, inconsistencies in nomenclature, isolation, and characterization continue to restrict translational advancement.

Evaluation of an ABO antibody immunoadsorption column for reduction of anti‐A and anti‐B isoagglutinin titers in group O platelet units

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Clinical guidelines recommend transfusing ABO‐identical platelets where possible. However, the short shelf life of platelets (5–7 days) and stock availability mean ABO‐nonidentical platelet transfusions are sometimes unavoidable. Minor ABO‐incompatible platelet transfusions carry a risk of hemolysis due to donor anti‐A/B antibodies,

Chemiluminescence resonance energy transfer-based method to investigate the platelet surface molecule in acute myocardial infarction

open access: yesPlatelets
The chemiluminescence resonance energy transfer (CRET)-based method was applied to the detect of CD61 and CD62P (P-selectin) on the surface of platelet in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and healthy controls.
