CD63-positive extracellular vesicles are potential diagnostic biomarkers of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2022
Background Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the deadliest gastrointestinal cancers with a 5-year survival rate of less than 10%. Biomarkers for early PDAC detection are useful in treating patients with PDAC.

Lack of involvement of CD63 and CD9 tetraspanins in the extracellular vesicle content delivery process

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2023
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are thought to mediate intercellular communication by transferring cargoes from donor to acceptor cells. The EV content-delivery process within acceptor cells is still poorly characterized and debated.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Killing potential of circulating neutrophils in renal tumors

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Medicine
Relevance. Currently, the study of the role of neutrophils in the development of renal cancer is of considerable interest. The study of the immunopathogenesis of renal cancer is determined by the need to use combined treatment with immunotherapy.

Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

microRNA‐7‐5p and α‐Synuclein SAA Predict Parkinson's Disease Phenoconversion

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Corroborate blood neuron‐derived extracellular vesicle (NDEV) alpha‐synuclein (αSyn), the CSF αSyn seed amplification assay (αSyn‐SAA), and blood microRNA‐7‐5p (miR‐7‐5p) as markers for Parkinson's disease (PD) phenoconversion and determine if combining these markers would help select subjects who would be more likely to phenoconvert.

Biomimetic Core–Shell Liposome Nanoparticles Deplete Lipoproteins and Enhance the Purity of Extracellular Vesicles from Human Blood

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipoprotein‐mimicking nanoparticles (SL‐NPs), comprising Fe3O4@SiO2 cores coated with liposomal bilayers, selectively capture lipoproteins through protein corona formation. The resulting SL‐NP‐lipoprotein complexes can be removed by low‐speed centrifugation, thereby enhancing the purity of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) isolated from human serum ...

The dual role of tetraspanin CD63 in HIV-1 replication [PDF]

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2014
Previously, we showed that the tetraspanin membrane protein CD63 mediates both early and post-integration stages of the HIV-1 replication cycle. The temporal roles of CD63 were discerned using monoclonal antibodies and small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) to block CD63 function, and determining which of the sequential steps in HIV-1 replication were ...

Down-regulation of TM4SF is associated with the metastatic potential of gastric carcinoma TM4SF members in gastric carcinoma

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2011
Background The aim of this study was to clarify the clinical significance of TM4SF members CD9, CD63 and CD82 in human gastric carcinoma. Methods By employing RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry, we studied the expression of CD9, CD63 and CD82 in 49 paired ...
