Adoptive transfer of effector CD8+ T cells derived from central memory cells establishes persistent T cell memory in primates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2008
The adoptive transfer of antigen-specific T cells that have been expanded ex vivo is being actively pursued to treat infections and malignancy in humans. The T cell populations that are available for adoptive immunotherapy include both effector memory and central memory cells, and these differ in phenotype, function, and homing.

BCG vaccination induces enhanced frequencies of memory T cells and altered plasma levels of common γc cytokines in elderly individuals.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
BCG vaccination is known to induce innate immune memory, which confers protection against heterologous infections. However, the effect of BCG vaccination on the conventional adaptive immune cells subsets is not well characterized.

Molecular Signatures Distinguish Human Central Memory from Effector Memory CD8 T Cell Subsets [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2005
Abstract Memory T cells are heterogeneous in terms of their phenotype and functional properties. We investigated the molecular profiles of human CD8 naive central memory (TCM), effector memory (TEM), and effector memory RA (TEMRA) T cells using gene expression microarrays and phospho-protein-specific intracellular flow cytometry.

CMV‐specific central memory T cells reside in bone marrow [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, 2007
AbstractCMV‐specific CD8+ T cell responses in peripheral blood (PB) are characterized by a preponderance of effector and effector memory T cells. CMV‐specific central memory T cells (TCM), which are considered crucial in maintaining long‐term immunity, are rarely detectable in PB.

Age related human T cell subset evolution and senescence

open access: yesImmunity & Ageing, 2019
T cells are fundamental effector cells against viruses and cancers that can be divided into different subsets based on their long-term immune protection and immediate immune response effects.

Immunotherapeutic Potential of T Memory Stem Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
Memory T cells include T memory stem cells (TSCM) and central memory T cells (TCM). Compared with effector memory T cells (TEM) and effector T cells (TEFF), they have better durability and anti-tumor immunity. Recent studies have shown that although TSCM

Unidirectional development of CD8+ central memory T cells into protective Listeria‐specific effector memory T cells [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, 2006
AbstractThree distinct subsets of antigen‐experienced CD8+ T cells have been identified so far: short‐living effector T cells (TEC) and two long‐living subsets, described as central (TCM) and effector memory (TEM) T cells. The lineage relationships of these subpopulations as well as their involvement in protection have not yet been conclusively ...

Rapid Transduction and Expansion of Transduced T Cells with Maintenance of Central Memory Populations

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Methods & Clinical Development, 2020
Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells show great promise in treating cancers and viral infections. However, most protocols developed to expand T cells require relatively long periods of time in culture, potentially leading to progression toward ...

Identification of immune cell infiltration and effective biomarkers of polycystic ovary syndrome by bioinformatics analysis

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2023
Background Patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) exhibit a chronic inflammatory state, which is often accompanied by immune, endocrine, and metabolic disorders.

Bystander Central Memory but Not Effector Memory CD8+ T Cells Suppress Allograft Rejection [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2008
Abstract Memory T cells respond faster and more vigorously than their naive counterparts and are critical for adaptive immunity. However, it is unknown whether and how memory T cells react in the face of irrelevant Ags. It is generally accepted that bystander memory T cells are neutral in immune responsiveness.
