An Isomeric Mixture of Novel Cerebrosides Isolated from Impatiens pritzellii Reduces Lipopolysaccharide‐Induced Release of IL‐18 from Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells

open access: yesLipids, 2009
An isomeric mixture of two cerebrosides, soya-cerebrosides I and II, was isolated from an ethno drug, the rhizomes of Impatiens pritzellii Hook. f. var. hupehensis Hook. f., and their structures were identified by spectroscopic (NMR, MS) analysis.

Preparation and analysis of benzoylated cerebrosides

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1973
The benzoylation of cerebrosides with benzoyl chloride and with benzoic anhydride is described, and the derivatives that contained hydroxy and nonhydroxy fatty acids were isolated by high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Structure and biological functions of fungal cerebrosides

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2004
Ceramide monohexosides (CMHs, cerebrosides) are glycosphingolipids composed of a hydrophobic ceramide linked to one sugar unit. In fungal cells, CMHs are very conserved molecules consisting of a ceramide moiety containing 9-methyl-4,8-sphingadienine in ...

Galactokinase 1 is the source of elevated galactose-1-phosphate and cerebrosides are modestly reduced in a mouse model of classic galactosemia. [PDF]

open access: yesJIMD Rep
Classic galactosemia (CG) arises from loss‐of‐function mutations in the Galt gene, which codes for the enzyme galactose‐1‐phosphate uridylyltransferase (GALT), a central component in galactose metabolism.

Structural Analysis of Oxidized Cerebrosides from the Extract of Deep-Sea Sponge Aulosaccus sp.: Occurrence of Amide-Linked Allylically Oxygenated Fatty Acids

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The structural elucidation of primary and secondary peroxidation products, formed from complex lipids, is a challenge in lipid analysis. In the present study, rare minor oxidized cerebrosides, isolated from the extract of a far eastern deep-sea glass ...

Structural Analysis of Fungal Cerebrosides

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2011
Of the ceramide monohexosides (CMHs), gluco- and galactosylceramides are the main neutral glycosphingolipids expressed in fungal cells. Their structural determination is greatly dependent on the use of mass spectrometric techniques, including fast atom ...

Cerebrosides and Sulfatides

open access: yes, 1970
Cerebrosides contain three moieties: a fatty amine, a fatty acid, and a hexose. The fatty amine is usually sphingosine, an 18-carbon straight-chain primary amine characterized by 2 hydroxyls (one of them allylic) and 1 amine group. A small amount of dihydrosphingosine occurs also.

Erythroside: A New Cerebroside and Other Compounds From Erythrina Caffra Thunb. (Fabaceae) Stem Bark, With Cytotoxicity and Antioxidant Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
ABSTRACT The chemical investigation of a CH2Cl2:MeOH (1:1) extract of the stem bark of Erythrina caffra resulted in the isolation and characterisation of the novel cerebroside, erythroside (1), alongside eight other known compounds (2‐9). The isolated compounds were characterized by FT‐IR, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, and ESI‐MS analysis.
