Heterogeneity at the CETP gene locus. Influence on plasma CETP concentrations and HDL cholesterol levels.

open access: yes, 1997
This study was designed to investigate the association(s) between heterogeneity at the cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) gene locus, CETP plasma concentrations, and HDL cholesterol levels.

Gender effects on the distribution of the cholesteryl ester transfer protein in apolipoprotein A-I-defined lipoprotein subpopulations.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1994
Two subpopulations of apolipoprotein A-I-containing lipoproteins, those containing only apoA-I (LpA-I) and those containing both apoA-I and apoA-II (LpA-I/A-II), were isolated by immunoaffinity chromatography of plasma from 44 subjects, comprising four ...

The Shared IL‐12/IL‐35 p35 Subunit Is Associated With Heightened Atherogenic Risk in African Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
Hyperglycaemia‐driven metabolic dysfunction is associated with elevated circulating levels of the shared IL‐12/IL‐35 p35 subunit and an adverse atherogenic phenotype. These findings identify p35 as a promising biomarker of cardiovascular risk in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Cardiovascular Diseases: Exploring Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, Risk Factors, and Medicinal Plant‐Based Therapies: A Narrative Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, encompassing coronary artery disease, hypertension, heart failure, and cerebrovascular disorders. The global burden of CVD continues to rise, driven by complex interactions among endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress, inflammation,

Lipopolysaccharide Lowers Cholesteryl Ester Transfer Protein by Activating F4/80+Clec4f+Vsig4+Ly6C− Kupffer Cell Subsets

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2018
BackgroundLipopolysaccharide (LPS) decreases hepatic CETP (cholesteryl ester transfer protein) expression albeit that the underlying mechanism is disputed. We recently showed that plasma CETP is mainly derived from Kupffer cells (KCs).

A uterine‐centric view of reproductive senescence: Genetic insights into late‐life performance in laying hens

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
This study identifies uterus weight as a heritable (h2 = 0.45) intermediate phenotype that independently associates with late‐life egg production and eggshell quality in aged laying hens. Genome‐wide association study (GWAS) reveals a genome‐wide significant locus on chromosome 3 and suggestive loci on chromosome 11 for uterus weight, mediation ...

Cholesteryl ester transfer protein expression is down-regulated in hyperinsulinemic transgenic mice

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2003
Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) mediates cholesteryl ester (CE) and triglyceride redistribution among plasma lipoproteins. In this work, we investigated whether varying levels of insulin regulate the CETP expression in vivo. Insulin deficiency [

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Modifies the Prognostic Value of LDL Particle Size in Statin‐treated Patients With Coronary Artery Disease: A Large‐scale Cohort Study

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
The LDL‐C/ApoB ratio, a marker of LDL size, showed significant prognostic value in statin‐treated CAD patients depending on diabetes status. A higher ratio was linked to lower cardiovascular risk only in patients with type 2 diabetes, suggesting it may be a superior biomarker for risk stratification beyond conventional lipids in this high‐risk group ...

Viability of developing CETP inhibitors

open access: yes, 2008
The recent failure of a major inhibitor of the cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP), in trials on high-risk coronary patients, indicated that potentially this therapeutic target might not be a viable one.

Evolutionary conservation of CETP with the 24 CETP variants indicated.

open access: yes, 2023
Multiple sequence alignment of 24 CETP genes from different species. Protein sequences that are homologous to human CETP were obtained from the NCBI RefSeq database resources [1] by employing standard BLAST sequence searching [2].
