The chlorogenic acids of Hemerocallis
Food Chemistry, 2006The chlorogenic acids in a methanolic extract of freeze-dried Hemerocallis (Chinese day lily) have been qualitatively profiled by LC–MS3. Three caffeoylquinic acids (3-CQA (I), 4-CQA (III) and 5-CQA (II)), three p-coumaroylquinic acids (3-pCoQA (IV), 4-pCoQA (VI) and 5-pCoQA (V)) and two feruloylquinic acids (3-FQA (VII) and 4-FQA (IX)) have been ...

Thin layer chromatography of chlorogenic acid isomers
Journal of Chromatography A, 1967Abstract Chlorogenic, neochlorogenic and cryptochlorogenic acids have been separated by the use of thin layer chromatography. Silica Gel G (Merck) plates impregnated with KHSO 4 were used. Forty chromatographic solvent systems used to develop the acids and eleven colour reactions are listed.

Chlorogenic Acids in Fruit Trees
Nature, 1952WORK on the chemical composition of the various parts of fruit trees, particularly apple and pear, is proceeding at Long Ashton aud East Malling Research Stations and the Ditton Laboratory. The problems being studied are not quite the same in each laboratory, but discussions of common interests have disclosed certain overlapping findings.

Chlorogenic Acid as a Natural Scavenger for Hypochlorous Acid
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1995The effect of chlorogenic acid (CGA) on the killing of Escherichia coli by hypochlorous acid (HOCI) was examined. CGA prevented E. coli from bactericidal action of HOCI in a concentration-dependent manner. HOCI reacted rapidly with CGA. By comparison with the one- and two-electron oxidation products produced by peroxidase and phenolase reactions ...

Effect of chlorogenic acid on hydroxyl radical
Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2003Chlorogenic acid (CGA) is considered to act as an antioxidant. However, the inhibitory effects of CGA on specific radical species are not well understood. Electron spin resonance (ESR) in combination with spin trapping techniques was utilized to detect free radicals.

Chlorogenic Acid of Lettuce Seeds
Nature, 1960THE high concentration of chlorogenic acid in lettuce seed has not previously been reported. Fig. 1 compares the ultra-violet absorption spectrum of a methanol solution of chlorogenic acid, 0.02 gm./l., with that of a methanol extract of 1 gm. of lettuce seed made up to 1 litre.

On the variability of chlorogenic acid concentration
Oecologia, 1972The plasticity of phenolic acid concentration in plants under various physiological stress situations raises questions concerning the ecological significance of such behavior. Helianthus annuus L. is remarkably plastic with regard to chlorogenic and ischlorogenic acid concentrations when subjected to nitrogen deficiency, NaCl-stress, short exposures to
