Comparative analysis of bioinformatic tools to predict and quantify active circular RNAs during grape cluster development

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are relatively new members of the RNA world and can contribute to crucial biological functions. CircRNAs have tissue-specific expression profiles depending on cell type and developmental stage.

Mitochondrial CircRNA CircMT‐RNR2 Safeguards Antioxidant Defense to Support Fibroblast Functions in Wound Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
CircMT‐RNR2 promotes wound healing by enhancing fibroblast proliferation, migration, contraction, and extracellular matrix (ECM) production. It sustains mitochondrial redox balance by stabilizing the antioxidant protein PRDX3, thereby reducing ROS‐induced damage. In diabetic foot ulcers, hypoxia, hyperglycemia, and reduced FGF2 and EGF expression lower

Elevated TRIM25 Impairs Poly (ADP‐ribose) Metabolism via PARG Degradation and Mediates Compression‐Induced Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
TRIM25 acts as a multifunctional hub driving intervertebral disc degeneration under mechanical stress. Mechanical compression significantly upregulates TRIM25 expression, establishing it as a key E3 ubiquitin ligase platform. TRIM25 targets PARG and Ku80 via distinct molecular interfaces, triggering their ubiquitination and degradation.

Mitochondrial CircRNA CircMT‐RNR2 Safeguards Antioxidant Defense to Support Fibroblast Functions in Wound Repair (Adv. Sci. 26/2026)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
CircMT‐RNR2‐Mediated Wound Healing The cover illustrates mitochondrial CircMT‐RNR2 RNA as a radiant golden ring binding to the PRDX3 protein, protecting fibroblasts from oxidative stress and enhancing their antioxidant defense and regenerative capacity.

circPDE4B downregulation triggers GEMIN5‑dependent translational stress response and autophagy to reduce MAPT pathology

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are emerging as key regulators of gene expression, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal function in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Here, we characterize the biological actions of circPDE4B, a highly expressed circRNA markedly reduced in AD. METHODS circPDE4B knockdown in neuronal progenitor cells was combined with

Rational engineering of microRNA-regulated viruses for cancer gene therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNA molecules that have important regulatory roles in a wide range of biological processes. miRNAs are often expressed in a tissue- and/or differentiation state-specific patterns, and it is estimated that miRNAs can
