ABSTRACT Background Determining whether to resect disappearing liver metastases (DLMs) after chemotherapy for colorectal liver metastases (CRLMs) remains challenging. Methods Patients who underwent hepatectomy after systemic chemotherapy for initially unresectable CRLMs were reviewed. True complete response (CR) was defined as either resected DLMs with

HCC patients with low preoperative TIBC levels experienced significantly more frequent post‐hepatectomy complications. Furthermore, these patients were significantly correlated with worse survival. Preoperative serum TIBC levels may be a novel surrogate marker of postoperative complications and long‐term survival after hepatectomy.

Surgical resection for CRLM seems to be as effective in elderly patients aged ≥ 80 as in nonelderly patients. However, elderly patients aged ≥ 80 had significantly worse cancer‐specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS). The significantly worse CSS and OS may have resulted from a lower rate of treatment for recurrence in elderly patients aged ...

This retrospective study of 249 patients undergoing hepatectomy after right portal vein embolization (PVE) demonstrated that major recanalization–defined as recanalization more than one segment within the embolized liver–was associated with impaired regeneration of the future liver remnant (FLR).

This study aimed to determine whether immuno‐nutritional and inflammatory markers could serve as predictors of the outcomes of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for stage III colorectal cancer in elderly patients. Postoperative lymphocyte‐to‐monocyte ratio and postoperative C‐reactive protein‐to‐albumin ratio accurately predicted the efficacy of ...

Recent Advances in Functional Liver Volumetry: Emphasis on 99mTc‐GSA SPECT/CT Fusion Imaging
Functional liver volumetry enables more accurate assessment of the future liver remnant by integrating anatomical and functional information, improving risk stratification before major hepatectomy. Among available techniques, 99mTc‐GSA SPECT/CT fusion imaging enables precise regional functional assessment and more reliable prediction of post ...

In recent years, the cancer stem cell hypothesis has emerged as a compelling but controversial model of cancer progression. Contrary to the clonal evolution model, the cancer stem cell hypothesis postulates that, akin to normal tissues, tumours are ...

Translational Gap in Biomarker Discovery: Tumor Surface Markers Rarely Mirror Circulating Levels
ABSTRACT Background Tumor‐associated cell surface proteins are frequently proposed as circulating biomarkers for colorectal cancer (CRC) based on their high tumor expression. However, many candidates identified through tissue‐based analyses fail to translate into clinically useful biomarkers.

Exosomes are emerging as powerful biomarkers for disease diagnosis and monitoring. This review highlights the integration of surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy with artificial intelligence to enhance molecular fingerprinting of exosomes. Machine learning and deep learning techniques improve spectral interpretation, enabling accurate classification of ...

DNA‐mimic for Specific Surface Functionalization of Zr‐MOFs for Bacterial Targeting
We introduce phosphotyrosine‐modified PNA as a superior, single‐step post‐synthesis surface coating for PCN‐222. The DNA mimic allows for controlled post‐functionalization with single‐stranded DNA for the attachment of protein moieties for bacterial targeting. ABSTRACT Nanosized metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are versatile platforms used in biomedical
