The Role of Complement C3a Receptor in Stroke

NeuroMolecular Medicine, 2019
The complement system is a key regulator of the innate immune response against diseased tissue that functions across multiple organ systems. Dysregulation of complement contributes to the pathogenesis of a number of neurological diseases including stroke.

Involvement of complement peptides C3a and C5a in osteoarthritis pathology

Peptides, 2022
Osteoarthritis (OA) affects more than 500 million people worldwide and is among the five diseases in Germany causing the highest suffering of the patients and cost for the society. The quality of life of OA patients is severely compromised, and adequate therapy is lacking owing to a knowledge gap that acts as a major barrier to finding safe and ...

Complement fragment C3a in plasma of asphyxiated neonates

European Journal of Pediatrics, 1992
Recent clinical studies with adult polytrauma patients indicate that elevated plasma levels of anaphylatoxin C3a correlate with the subsequent development of the adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, there are no parameters which allow a reliable diagnosis of ARDS in neonates. As the most predisposing condition for ARDS seems to be shock,

ELISA of complement C3a in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1992
Activated complement factors within the lung may induce several local biological effects. In order to investigate local complement activation we have developed non-competitive two-site ELISAs of C3a and total C3 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF).

Potent Heterocyclic Ligands for Human Complement C3a Receptor

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2014
The G-protein coupled receptor (C3aR) for human inflammatory protein complement C3a is an important component of immune, inflammatory, and metabolic diseases. A flexible compound (N2-[(2,2-diphenylethoxy)acetyl]-l-arginine, 4), known as a weak C3aR antagonist (IC50 μM), was transformed here into potent agonists (EC50 nM) of human macrophages (Ca(2 ...

Anti-analgesic and anti-amnesic effect of complement C3a

Life Sciences, 2000
In the present study, we found that complement C3a exerted central effects after intracerebroventricular administration in mice. At doses of 3 and 10 pmol/mouse, the peptide showed an antagonistic effect on analgesia induced by morphine and U-50488H, known to be mu- and kappa-opioid receptor agonists, respectively.

Selective Hexapeptide Agonists and Antagonists for Human Complement C3a Receptor

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2010
Human anaphylatoxin C3a, formed through cleavage of complement protein C3, is a potent effector of innate immunity via activation of its G protein coupled receptor, human C3aR. Previously reported short peptide ligands for this receptor either have low potency or lack receptor selectivity.
