The effectiveness and safety of azvudine treatment in COVID‐19 patients with kidney disease based on a multicenter retrospective cohort study

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
A retrospective, multicenter cohort study was conducted across nine hospitals in Henan Province, aiming to evaluate the efficacy and safety of azvudine in hospitalized COVID‐19 patients with kidney disease. Through the application of Kaplan‒Meier and multivariate Cox regression analyses, it was found that azvudine may have potential effects in reducing

Identifying PDAP1 as a Biological Target on Human Longevity: Integration of Mendelian Randomization, Cohort, and Cell Experiments Validation Study

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Integration of multi‐omics analyses reveals PDAP1 as one of the key regulators of longevity and aging. Mendelian randomization, colocalization, prospective studies, and in vitro experiments highlight PDAP1's effects on mortality, lifespan, and cellular senescence.

Human amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/motor neuron disease: The disease‐associated microglial pathway is upregulated while APOE genotype governs risk and survival

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
ALS/MND‐related inflammation is investigated in the motor cortex and spinal cord by both transcriptomics and immunohistochemistry. This reveals greater inflammation in the spinal cord and highlights the disease‐associated microglial (DAM) phenotype characterized by ApoE, TREM2, and TYROBP.

Production and Functional Verification of 8‐Gene (GGTA1, CMAH, β4GalNT2, hCD46, hCD55, hCD59, hTBM, hCD39)‐Edited Donor Pigs for Xenotransplantation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of generation of 8‐gene‐edited cloned pigs and their verification by pig to non‐human primate kidney xenotransplantation. ABSTRACT Gene‐edited (GE) pig‐to‐human xenotransplantation continues to make breakthroughs, but which kind of gene combination is suitable for organ‐specific transplantation remains unclear.

d‐amino acids: new functional insights

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
This review explores recent advances in understanding d‐amino acids (d‐AAs) and their pivotal roles across organisms, from plants to humans. d‐AAs have been implicated in key physiological processes, including cancer, inflammation, immune regulation, kidney disease, diabetes, and nervous system function.

The salivary gland transcriptome of Varroa destructor reveals suitable targets for RNAi‐based mite control

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
RNAseq and differential expression analysis identified 15 salivary gland genes encoding secreted proteins with putative anti‐bacterial, anti‐fungal, cytolytic, digestive and immunosuppressive function. The three most highly transcribed genes were selected to study their functional importance by reverse genetics, using a non‐invasive approach of dsRNA ...

Epidermal proteomics demonstrates Elafin as a psoriasis‐specific biomarker and highlights increased anti‐inflammatory activity around psoriatic plaques

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Epidermal sampling of lesional, perilesional and non‐lesional skin from psoriasis and eczema patients as well as healthy skin was used to perform an in depth proteomic analysis. IL‐36γ known to be expressed in lesional psoriasis skin was outperformed by the protease inhibitor Elafin as a disease‐specific epidermal biomarker.

Salivary Proteomics for Detecting Novel Biomarkers of Periodontitis: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Untargeted salivary proteomics identified promising biological molecules consistently over‐ or under‐expressed in periodontitis patients compared to periodontally healthy subjects, but further targeted approaches are required for their validation. ABSTRACT Aim Salivary content is regarded as a powerful diagnostic window for oral and systemic diseases ...

Evaluation of Decreased Kidney Function in Dogs Receiving Carboplatin: A Retrospective Cohort Study of 98 Dogs (2006–2024)

open access: yesVeterinary and Comparative Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Decreased kidney function is observed in some people receiving carboplatin, but limited literature explores this in dogs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence and risk factors for decreased kidney function in dogs receiving carboplatin.
