Piperine as an Herbal Alternative for the Prevention of Drug-Induced Liver Damage Caused by Paracetamol

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Background/Objective: Hepatic drug intoxication is becoming increasingly common with the increasing use of chronic medications. Piperine has emerged as a promising alternative for protecting the liver against drug-induced injury.

In situ spectroscopy reveals that microorganisms in different phyla use different electron transfer biomolecules to respire aerobically on soluble iron

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
Absorbance spectra were collected on twelve different live microorganisms, representing six phyla, as they respired aerobically on soluble iron at pH 1.5.

Phylogeny of Old and New World Vultures (Aves: Accipitridae and Cathartidae) Inferred from Nucleotide Sequences of the Mitochondrial Cytochrome b Gene

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C - A Journal of Biosciences, 1995
The molecular phylogeny of 11 Old World and 5 New World vultures was inferred from nucleotide sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome b (cyt b) gene.

Engineering Electron Transfer Flux between Cytochrome P450 Enzyme and P450 Reductase to Enhance Serotonin Production in Escherichia Coli

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The electron transfer flux in CPR‐P450 catalytic system is systematically engineered through: i) enhancing electron transfer rate by redesigning the putative electron transfer pathway of CPR; ii) improving electron‐receiving rate by evolving the heme domain of tryptophan‐5‐hydroxylase (T5H); iii) enlarging electron supply by fine‐tuning NADPH synthesis.

Rhodamin-B increases Hippocampus cell apoptosis in Rattus norvegicus-oxidative stress related to Parkinson, Alzheimer, cancer, hyperactive, anterograde amnesia diseases

open access: yesJournal of Public Health in Africa, 2019
Rhodamine B is a textile dye compounds containing chlorine (Cl-), alkylating (CH3-CH3), Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) which activate the enzyme cytochrome P-450 as well as the structure of quinone which is very redox that leads to the formation of ...

Gentle Label‐Free Nonlinear Optical Imaging Relaxes Linear‐Absorption‐Mediated Triplet

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The phototoxicity in nonlinear optical microscopy arises mainly from linear absorption of intrinsic biomolecules rather than nonlinear absorption. This mechanism is supported by a reproducible phototoxicity assay based on widely available chicken breast.

Neophytadiene, a Plant Specialized Metabolite, Mediates the Virus‐Vector‐Plant Tripartite Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tomato chlorosis virus (ToCV) infection induces production of neophytadiene, a volatile resulting from chlorophyll degradation that is highly attractive to whiteflies. OBP2, an odorant‐binding protein from insect vector B. tabaci, exhibits a strong binding affinity for neophytadiene.

A MOLECULAR PHYLOGENY OF THE BLACKBIRDS (ICTERIDAE): FIVE LINEAGES REVEALED BY CYTOCHROME-B SEQUENCE DATA

open access: yes, 1999
New World blackbirds (Icteridae) have long served as model systems for stud- ies of avian ecology, evolution, and behavior. However, this work has been conducted in the absence of a strong phylogenetic hypothesis for the group.

Chromosome‐Level Genome Assembly of the Leafcutter Bee Megachile rotundata Reveals Its Ecological Adaptation and Pollination Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The genome of Megachile rotundata, an extensively managed solitary pollination bee species, has been sequenced, covering 280.68 Mb and predicting 10 701 genes. The study reveals significant expansions of the Toll gene family and their abundant expression in diapause prepupae, highlighting enhanced immune responses during diapause. This genome serves as

Screening of the mitochondrial A1555G mutation in patients with sensorineural hearing loss

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, 2008
Summary: The A1555G mitochondrial mutation is the main alteration associated with aminoglycoside-induced deafness. Aim: to investigate the prevalence of the A1555G mutation in patients sensorineural hearing loss patients with and without aminoglycosides ...
