Species Limits and Phylogeography of North American Cricket Frogs (Acris: Hylidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Cricket frogs are widely distributed across the eastern United States and two species, the northern cricket frog (Acris crepitans) and the southern cricket frog (A. gryllus) are currently recognized. We generated a phylogenetic hypothesis for Acris using

Maturation of Plastid c-type Cytochromes

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Cytochromes c are hemoproteins, with the prosthetic group covalently linked to the apoprotein, which function as electron carriers. A class of cytochromes c is defined by a CXXCH heme-binding motif where the cysteines form thioether bonds with the vinyl ...

Levels of apoptosis factors in mitochondria of brain cortex cells in female С57ВL/6 mice in dynamics of B16/F10 melanoma growth combined with comorbidity

open access: yesИсследования и практика в медицине, 2022
Purpose of the study. To analyze the apoptosis indicators in mitochondria of brain cortex cells in female С57ВL/6 mice in the dynamics of B16/F10 melanoma growth alone and in combination with comorbidity, i.e.

Resonance Raman Spectroscopy Reveals that Substrate Structure Selectively Impacts the Heme-Bound Diatomic Ligands of CYP17 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An important function of steroidogenic cytochromes P450 is the transformation of cholesterol to produce androgens, estrogens, and the corticosteroids.

Effect of pre-irradiation with different doses, wavelengths, and application intervals of low-level laser therapy on cytochrome c oxidase activity in intact skeletal muscle of rats

open access: yesLasers in Medical Science, 2014
Modulation of cytochrome c oxidase activity has been pointed as a possible key mechanism for low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in unhealthy biological tissues.

Studies on Regioselective Binding Mode of Steroid Molecules in Homology Modeled Cytochrome P450-2C11 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this study, we investigated the regioselective binding mode of steroid molecules and structure requirements for steroid molecules for 16[alpha]-hydroxylation by Cytochrome P450-2C11.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Homogeneous Cytochrome 579 Is an Octamer That Reacts Too Slowly With Soluble Iron to Be the Initial Iron Oxidase in the Respiratory Chain of Leptospirillum ferriphilum

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
The exact role that cytochrome 579 plays in the aerobic iron respiratory chain of Leptospirillum ferriphilum is unclear. This paper presents genomic, structural, and kinetic data on the cytochrome 579 purified from cell-free extracts of L.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Functional interference (crosstalk) between gut microbiome, proteolysis, apoptosis and muscle hypertrophy: Role of resistance training and supplement [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Exercise & Organ Cross Talk
Primary objective of this study was to examine the interplay between grip strength, a functional marker of hypertrophy, and its connection to the Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes ratio in the gut microbiome. Twenty-five male Wistar rats were divided into five
