Chloroquine supplementation increases the cytotoxic effect of curcumin against Her2/neu overexpressing breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo in nude mice while counteracts it in immune competent mice [PDF]
Autophagy is usually a pro-survival mechanism in cancer cells, especially in the course of chemotherapy, thus autophagy inhibition may enhance the chemotherapy-mediated anti-cancer effect.

NFATc1 controls the cytotoxicity of CD8+ T cells [PDF]
AbstractCytotoxic T lymphocytes are effector CD8+ T cells that eradicate infected and malignant cells. Here we show that the transcription factor NFATc1 controls the cytotoxicity of mouse cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Activation of Nfatc1 −/− cytotoxic T lymphocytes showed a defective cytoskeleton organization and ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A mathematical model of cytotoxic and helper T cell interactions in a tumour microenvironment
We develop a mathematical model to examine the role of helper and cytotoxic T cells in an anti-tumour immune response. The model comprises three ordinary differential equations describing the dynamics of the tumour cells, the helper and the cytotoxic T ...

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Increased Peripheral Blood Pro-Inflammatory/Cytotoxic Lymphocytes in Children with Bronchiectasis. [PDF]
Bronchiectasis (BE) in children is common in some communities including Indigenous children in Australia. Relatively little is known about the nature of systemic inflammation in these children, especially the contribution of specific pro-inflammatory and

Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

CYTOTOXIC ACTIVITY OF COMBINED FIG EXTRACT AND OLIVE OIL AGAINST BREAST CANCER CELLS
Figs and olive oil are plants containing flavonoids compounds. Flavonoids have antioxidant and cytotoxic activities. This study aims to find out the antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of fig extract, olive oil and combination of fig and olive oil as ...

Fusion of Sendai virus with the target cell membrane is required for T cell cytotoxicity [PDF]
INFECTION of mice with viruses can generate cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) which show restricted specificity for target cell lysis. Specific lysis requires that the virus used to prime the target cells must be of the same type as that used to sensitise ...
