The lymphoreticular system in triggering virus plus self-specific cytotoxic T cells: evidence for T help

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1978
The thymus determines the spectrum of the receptor specificities of differentiating T cells for self-H-2; however, the phenotypic expression of T cell's specificity for self plus virus is determined predominantly by the H-2 type of the antigen presenting

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

CD8+ T Cells in Atherosclerosis

open access: yesCells, 2020
Atherosclerotic lesions are populated by cells of the innate and adaptive immune system, including CD8+ T cells. The CD8+ T cell infiltrate has recently been characterized in mouse and human atherosclerosis and revealed activated, cytotoxic, and possibly

Target cell-dependent T cell-mediated lysis of vaccinia virus-infected cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Vaccinia virus specific cytotoxicity against infected target cells was observed in vitro. Spleen lymphocytes from normal and immunized mice of the inbred strains C3H and DBA/2 were incubated with vaccinia virus-infected and non-infected 51Cr-labeled ...

Murine anti-swine T4 and T8 monoclonal antibodies: distribution and effects on proliferative and cytotoxic T cells.

open access: yesJournal of Immunology, 1985
Two murine monoclonal antibodies reactive with porcine nylon wool-nonadherent T cells were examined by flow microfluorometry analysis for cellular distribution, and by functional analysis for their effect on MLR and CTL assays.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Cytotoxic CD4+ T Cells Drive Multiple Sclerosis Progression

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2017
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the leading cause of chronic neurological disability in young adults. The clinical disease course of MS varies greatly between individuals, with some patients progressing much more rapidly than others, making prognosis almost ...

Diet Reversal and Immune Modulation Show Key Role for Liver and Adipose Tissue T Cells in Murine Nonalcoholic SteatohepatitisSummary

open access: yesCellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2020
Background & Aims: Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a multisystem condition, implicating liver and adipose tissue. Although the general involvement of the innate and adaptive immune system has been established, we aimed to define the exact role
