d-chiro-Inositol enhances effects of hypothalamic toxin gold-thioglucose
Brain Research, 2003D-chiro-Inositol (DCI) enhances reproductive function in insulin-resistant women with polycystic ovarian disease and enhances the effects of insulin in the periphery, suggesting that this compound may act in part by sensitizing the hypothalamus to effects of insulin.

Metabolic engineering Corynebacterium glutamicum for D-chiro-inositol production
World Journal of Microbiology and BiotechnologyD-chiro-inositol (DCI) is a potential drug for the treatment of type II diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome. In order to effectively synthesize DCI in Corynebacterium glutamicum, the genes related to inositol catabolism in clusters iol1 and iol2 were knocked out in C. glutamicum SN01 to generate the chassis strain DCI-1.

Effects of D-Chiro-Inositol in Lean Women with the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Endocrine Practice, 2002To determine whether the administration of D-chiro-inositol, a putative insulin-sensitizing drug, would affect the concentration of circulating insulin, the levels of serum androgens, and the frequency of ovulation in lean women with the polycystic ovary syndrome. In 20 lean women (body mass index, 20.0 to 24.4 kg/m 2) who had the polycystic ovary ...

d-chiro-inositol phosphoglycan expression in human placenta at term in diabetes
Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, 2013We present a histological assessment of diabetic placenta for the localization of some insulin mediators that were reported to play a major role for lipid/glycogen metabolism in human placenta. Placental metabolism is fundamental to fetal wellbeing.

Syntheses of D-chiro-3-inosose and (+)-D-chiro inositol [PDF]
There are described novel biocatalytic and chemical processes for the synthesis of various oxygenated compounds. Particularly, there are described processes for the synthesis of a useful synthon 12 made by reacting a protected diol (acetonide) with permaganate under appropriate conditions.

The putative metabolic role of d -chiro inositol phosphoglycan in human pregnancy and preeclampsia
Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 2014Immunological alterations, systemic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and insulin resistance are prominent features of preeclampsia, although the reciprocal relationship between them is poorly understood. The metabolic syndrome that occurs during preeclampsia can be exacerbated by the systemic inflammation and linked to placental metabolism ...
