In the present study we have investigated the effect of exogenous cyclitols on the accumulation of their galactosides and raffinose family oligosaccharides (RFOs), as well as on some enzymes important for their biosynthesis in seeds of tiny vetch (Vicia ...

A relatively high concentration of phytate in buckwheat malt, and the low activity of endogenous buckwheat phytases, both of which limit the effective use of substrates (starch, proteins, minerals) for fermentation and yeast metabolism, gives rise to the

Inositol as putative integrative treatment for PCOS [PDF]
Studies over the last decade have demonstrated that some polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients have abnormal insulin sensitivity (insulin resistance), independently from being overweight or obese.

Hyperandrogenism and skin: polycystic ovary syndrome and peripheral insulin resistance [PDF]
The polycystic ovary syndrome is an extremely common endocrine disorder in women of chilbearing age. It is characterized by menstrual disturbance, hyperandrogenism and/or hyperandrogenemia.

Absorption and biosynthesis of D‐chiro‐inositol in mice
D‐chiro‐inositol (DCI) is known to possess insulin‐like properties. Mice were fed with either regular chow (control group) or DCI‐free diet over a five‐week period. The levels of DCI declined significantly in plasma (1.91 ± 0.17 to 0.056 ± 0.0 μM), stool (20.2 ± 6 to 0.147 ± 0.05 nmoles) and urine (27.39 ± 8.2 ...

D-chiro-Inositol and Pinitol Extend the Life Span of Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]
D-chiro-inositol, a member of the inositol family, and pinitol, a 3-methoxy analogue of D-chiro-inositol, have been proposed to have antidiabetic, antiinflammatory, anticancer and stamina enhancing effects. We found that supplementing the diet of Drosophila with D-chiro-inositol and pinitol extended adult longevity in both male and female flies.

Efficiency of the D-chiro-inositol for the polycystic ovary syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder that develops in 10–15% of reproductive aged women. Over the past two decades, the inositol effectiveness in normalizing the clinical and hormonal disorders associated with PCOS has been actively studied.
