The Anti-apoptotic Murine Cytomegalovirus Protein vMIA-m38.5 Induces Mast Cell Degranulation
Mast cells (MC) represent “inbetweeners” of the immune system in that they are part of innate immunity by acting as first-line sentinels for environmental antigens but also provide a link to adaptive immunity by secretion of chemokines that recruit CD8 T

Neuroinflammation, Mast Cells, and Glia: Dangerous Liaisons [PDF]
The perspective of neuroinflammation as an epiphenomenon following neuron damage is being replaced by the awareness of glia and their importance in neural functions and disorders.

Mechanisms of Degranulation in Neutrophils [PDF]
AbstractNeutrophils are critical inflammatory cells that cause tissue damage in a range of diseases and disorders. Being bone marrow-derived white blood cells, they migrate from the bloodstream to sites of tissue inflammation in response to chemotactic signals and induce inflammation by undergoing receptor-mediated respiratory burst and degranulation ...

Identification of a porcine liver eomes-high-T-bet-low NK cell subset that resembles human liver resident NK cells [PDF]
Natural killer (NK) cells are cells of the innate immunity and play an important role in the defense against viral infections and cancer, but also contribute to shaping adaptive immune responses. Long-lived tissue-resident NK cells have been described in

Mast cells play a critical role in immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated allergic diseases, and the degranulation of mast cells is important in the pathogenesis of these diseases. A disturbance of the intestinal microflora, especially of endogenous lactic acid

Protective effect of leukotriene receptor antagonist montelukast on smoking-induced lung injury in Wistar rats. [PDF]
Increased activation of alveolar macrophage, neutrophil and mast cell has been proven in cigarette smoking (CS)-related lung disorders (CSLD). An increased production of cysteinyl-leukotrienes (LTs), which are mediators secreted from the mentioned cells,

Avidity of influenza-specific memory CD8+ T-cell populations decays over time compromising antiviral immunity [PDF]
Decline of cell-mediated immunity is often attributed to decaying T-cell numbers and their distribution in peripheral organs. This study examined the hypothesis that qualitative as well as quantitative changes contribute to the declining efficacy of CD8+

Eosinophils are major effectors of Th2-related pathologies, frequently found infiltrating several human cancers. We recently showed that eosinophils play an essential role in anti-tumor responses mediated by immunotherapy with the ‘alarmin’ intereukin-33

Studies on the degranulation test for carcinogens [PDF]
The radiometric assay of degranulation of the hepatic endoplasmic reticulum by chemical carcinogens has been re‐examined. Both 1,2,3,4,‐ and 1,25,6‐dibenzanthracenes caused degranulation of rough membranes in vitro; with acetamidofluorenes and naphthylamines the carcinogenic analogues caused moderately greater degranulation.
