Influence of genetic variants and sialylation of purified κ-casein on peptide release during in vitro digestion

open access: yesFood Chemistry Advances, 2023
In the present study, digestion pattern of purified bovine κ-casein (κ-CN) variants A, B, E as well as desialylated variant B, using INFOGEST 2.0 in vitro gastrointestinal digestion were investigated using peptidomics.

Apoptotic modification of glycosphingolipids of human granulocytes

open access: yesБіологічні студії, 2012
The phenomenon of programmed apoptotic desialylation of cell glycans was described previously. However, the possibility of this process application to the sialylated glycolipids of membranes stayes unknown.

MHC Class I Stability is Modulated by Cell Surface Sialylation in Human Dendritic Cells

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2020
Maturation of human Dendritic Cells (DCs) is characterized by increased expression of antigen presentation molecules, and overall decreased levels of sialic acid at cell surface. Here, we aimed to identify sialylated proteins at DC surface and comprehend

Measurement of Circulating Desialylated Glycoproteins and Correlation with Hepatocellular Damage [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1974
Addition of increasing amounts of (125)I-labeled desialylated thyroxine-binding globulin (DTBG) to hepatic cell membranes resulted in a progressive increase in binding. Saturability of membrane sites was indicated by a concentration beyond which further increases in [(125)I]DTBG resulted in no further binding.

The Binding of Desialylated Glycoproteins by Plasma Membranes of Rat Liver

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1971
Abstract Evidence is presented to identify plasma membranes of liver as the major locus of binding for circulating glycoproteins. The binding process involves a dual role for sialic acid in that its presence on the membranes is essential, whereas its presence on the glycoprotein is incompatible with binding.

Beyond Sequence: Posttranslational Remodeling of Antigens in Autoimmunity

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 341, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Autoimmune responses are often attributed to failed tolerance to self‐proteins, yet protein expression alone cannot explain why certain antigens dominate disease, why autoreactivity emerges under stress, or why specific HLA alleles shape risk.

The N‐Glycome to Differentiate Mesenchymal Stem Cells Upon Chondrogenic Differentiation, Dedifferentiation, and Senescence

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, Volume 26, Issue 7, Page 17-27, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are adult stem cells able to self‐renewal or differentiation into different cell types, including chondrocytes. N‐Glycans are post‐translational modifications of glycoproteins that contribute to vital cell functions.
