Geranylgeranylacetone protects mice from dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis
Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2005Geranylgeranylacetone (GGA) has recently been reported to induce heat shock protein (HSP) 70, which has a protective function against inflammation. We investigated the therapeutic effects of oral administration of GGA on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in mice.BALB/c mice were given 3% DSS solution orally for 7 days to induce colitis.

Phenyl methimazole suppresses dextran sulfate sodium-induced murine colitis
European Journal of Pharmacology, 2010Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune-inflammatory disease characterized by abnormally increased expression of Toll-like receptor-4 (TLR4) in colonic epithelial cells, increased production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, IL-6, IL-12), chemokines (e.g., IP-10), and endothelial cell adhesion molecules (e.g., VCAM-1), plus enhanced

Effect of Heparin on Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1998Heparin has been shown to ameliorate inflammatory bowel disease in several series. In addition to its anticoagulant properties, heparin has numerous other effects that may be beneficial in inflammatory bowel disease. Other sulfated polysaccharides, such as dextran sulfate, cause colitis in mice through unknown mechanisms.

Induction of Colitis in Young Rats by Dextran Sulfate Sodium
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2005Models using dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) to induce experimental colitis in rodents have been performed mostly in adult animals. For this reason, we aimed to develop a model of colitis in young rats. DSS was administered to 30-day-old rats at concentrations ranging from 0.5 to 5% in drinking water.

We hypothesized that the severity of dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis could differ between DSS preparations of the same molecular weight, and that this difference may be affected by the sulfur content. To test this, we used three DSS preparations of similar molecular weights but with different sulfur contents.Three DSS preparations with ...

Dietary red raspberries attenuate dextran sulfate sodium-induced acute colitis
The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, 2018Persistent intestinal inflammation severely impairs intestinal integrity resulting in inflammatory bowel disease. Red raspberries (RB) are a rich source of bioactive compounds; their beneficial effect on the colitis protection was evaluated in the current study using a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced acute colitis mouse model.

Dextran Sodium Sulfate-Induced Murine Inflammatory Colitis Model
2013Colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the colon that is characterized by recurring, acute episodes. Mouse models of colitis allow for the study of multiple aspects of this disease, including the innate immune response, epithelial and intestinal cell response, and wound healing.

Feruloylated Oligosaccharides Alleviate Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis in Vivo
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2019The imbalance of T lymphocyte subsets substantially conduces to disturbed intestinal immune system and succeeding colonic tissue damage in inflammatory bowel diseases. It is considered that regulation of phytochemicals on cytokine production potentially provides a broad prospect for the exploitation of immunomodulatory agents.

[Experimental colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium].
Hunan yi ke da xue xue bao = Hunan yike daxue xuebao = Bulletin of Hunan Medical University, 2001In this study, experimental colitis in rats induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) was performed. Twenty rats freely drank 3% DSS solution for 10 days. During the 10 days, symptoms (diarrhea, hemafecia) were observed daily, and at the same time the rats were colon-endoscopied.

Venular Constriction of Submucosal Arterioles Induced by Dextran Sodium Sulfate
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, 2005Leukocyte and platelet adherence in postcapillary venules has been speculated to induce constriction of closely paired arterioles. This mechanism was investigated in the current study, in a model of intestinal inflammation induced by dextran sodium sulfate (DSS; 5,000 molecular weight).Closely paired, parallel arterioles and venules in the submucosa of
