Novel DICER-LIKE1 siRNAs Bypass the Requirement for DICER-LIKE4 in Maize Development [PDF]

open access: yesThe Plant Cell, 2015
Dicer enzymes function at the core of RNA silencing to defend against exogenous RNA or to regulate endogenous genes. Plant DICER-LIKE4 (DCL4) performs dual functions, acting in antiviral defense and in development via the biogenesis of trans-acting short-interfering RNAs (siRNAs) termed tasiR-ARFs. These small RNAs play an essential role in the grasses,

Suppression of Induced microRNA-15b Prevents Rapid Loss of Cardiac Function in a Dicer Depleted Model of Cardiac Dysfunction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Dicer endonuclease, critical for maturation of miRNAs, is depleted in certain forms of cardiomyopathy which results in differential expression of certain microRNAs.

Zika Says No Dice to Dicer [PDF]

open access: yesCell Stem Cell, 2020
Among the common flaviviruses that infect humans, Zika virus, and the contemporary Asian strain in particular, is distinctively associated with microcephaly. Zeng et al. (2020) report in this issue of Cell Stem Cell that strong binding and inhibition of human Dicer enzyme by the capsid protein is a potential mechanism for this unique pathogenic ...

Intracellular microRNA expression patterns influence cell death fates for both necrosis and apoptosis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2020
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNA molecules that interact with target mRNAs at specific sites to induce cleavage of the mRNA or inhibit translation.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Role of Dicer in female fertility [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2009
Dicer is an RNAse III endonuclease that is essential for the biogenesis of microRNAs and small interfering RNAs. These small RNAs post-transcriptionally regulate mRNA gene expression through several mechanisms to affect key cellular events including proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis.

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...
