Neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte and monocyte‐to‐lymphocyte ratios as inflammatory markers in the assessment of glycemic status in diabetic patients of Asir region

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and monocyte‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (MLR) were investigated as potential markers. A total of 3545 subjects were included in the analysis retrospectively. Adult men and women with impaired glucose metabolism were assessed. NLR and MLR may help assess inflammation in individuals with impaired glucose metabolism. Abstract

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis modulates early‐life immune response and gut metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Background: The maturation of the immune system is critical during early life, as it involves the differentiation, maturation, and establishment of immune tolerance of immune cells. This process is influenced not only by genetic factors but also by environmental factors, particularly the symbiotic microbiota. Bifidobacterium animalis subsp.

Integrated impact of environmentally friendly extraction and recovery methods on almond oil quality: Insights from a lipidomic perspective

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
Abstract Although aqueous and enzymatic extractions are solvent‐free alternatives for extracting oil and proteins from almond flour, most of the extracted oil becomes entrapped in an emulsion and needs demulsification for recovery. To assess how extraction and demulsification methods impact yields and quality, a lipidomic approach was used to ...
