Unfolded protein response kinase PERK supports survival and metastasis of circulating tumor cell clusters via SAM synthesis and H3K4me3‐dependent PDGFB signaling

open access: yesCancer Communications, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 1706-1733, December 2025.
Abstract Background Metastasis is the leading cause of cancer‐related mortality, with circulating tumor cell (CTC) clusters serving as highly efficient precursors of distant metastasis. Survival of CTC clusters in the bloodstream is the primary contributor to tumor metastasis.

High-resolution tandem mass spectrometry dataset reveals fragmentation patterns of cardiac glycosides in leaves of the foxglove plants

open access: yesData in Brief, 2020
Cardiac glycosides, steroid derivatives extracted from the foxglove plants, have been used for the treatment of heart failure since the 18th century. A method based on liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS2 ...

Medication adherence in patients with acutely decompensated heart failure: A cross‐sectional study in the emergency department (ADHF‐ED)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, Volume 27, Issue 12, Page 2763-2772, December 2025.
The ADHF‐ED trial. ADHF, acutely decompensated heart failure; CHF, chronic heart failure; ED, emergency department; EF, ejection fraction; MRA, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist; NT‐proBNP, N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide. Created with the support of AI (ChatGPT).

Cardiac glycosides in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundThe prognostic benefits of cardiac glycosides in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) remain controversial. Although digitoxin exhibits more favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics than digoxin, its potential to ...

Host plants and experimental warming impact fitness and infection outcomes in a migratory butterfly

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 6, Page 1159-1171, December 2025.
Host plant species interacted with temperature treatment to shape monarch survival and infection probabilities. Temperature modified the expected role of tropical milkweed, which did not confer OE resistance to monarchs under elevated temperatures.

Exploring the Potential of Tsuruazuki Bean as a Functional Food to Curb Obesity Using Human Amniotic Epithelial Cells and 3T3‐L1 Preadipocytes

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 5, Page 2359-2375, September 2025.
Obesity is a global health problem that requires research and regulatory attention. This research aims to investigate transcriptome‐wide changes induced by Vigna umbellata (Tsuruazuki) using a stem cell‐based tool and preadipocytes to explore its untapped potential as a functional food for anti‐obesity applications.

A multicentre registry of hospitalized patients with acute and chronic heart failure: Study design of the H2‐registry

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 3114-3133, August 2025.
The H2‐Registry: overview, first results and outlook. Abstract Aims Heart failure (HF) is a highly prevalent condition affecting 1–3% of the adult population in Europe. Despite landmark improvements in HF care over the last two decades, hospitalization and mortality rates remain relatively high.

Anti-tumorigenic effects of a novel digitoxin derivative on both estrogen receptor–positive and triple-negative breast cancer cells

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
While there are targeted treatments for triple positive breast cancers, lack of specific biomarkers for triple-negative breast cancers (TNBC) has hindered the development of therapies for this subset of cancers. In this study, we evaluated the anticancer

Digitoxin Antagonism by Visnadin

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1962
Visnadin, a lactone derived from bishop's weed, has been found to have marked antidotal properties in animals poisoned with digitoxin. It increases survival on acute and chronic administration of the glycoside, prevents the appearance of bradycardia, and reverses cardiac arrhythmias.

Determination of Biotin Interference in Pediatric Obesity Related ELISA Research Kits Biotin Interference in Manual ELISA Kits

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 39, Issue 16, August 2025.
In this study, we aimed for the first time to demonstrate biotin interference in ELISA research kits used in the analysis of pediatric obesity parameters other than routine testing. Our study revealed that biotin interaction may occur in manual ELISA kits and may cause erroneous test results.
