Intragastric administration of acetylsalicylic acid induces development of NSAID-gastropathy in animals. The number of ulcers and the total area of erosive injury in the mucous membrane are studied. Antioxidants/antihypoxants metaprot in a daily dose of 50 mg/kg and diosmin in a daily dose of 100 mg/kg render gastroprotective action.

A rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of diosmin (D) has been developed. The method is based on the reaction of D with 4-aminoantipyrine (AAP) in the presence of hexacyanoferrate (III) (HCF) in an alkaline medium and subsequent formation of a purple coloured product havingmax at 524.5 nm.
