An Immune Microenvironment-Integrated Intestinal-on-a-Chip Model for Investigating Immunopathogenesis in Inflammatory Bowel Disease [PDF]
Owing to the multifactorial nature of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) pathogenesis, conventional two-dimensional (2D) models inadequately recapitulate the complex in vivo microenvironment.

Lab-on-a-Chip Platforms for Detection of Cardiovascular Disease and Cancer Biomarkers
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer are two leading causes of death worldwide. CVD and cancer share risk factors such as obesity and diabetes mellitus and have common diagnostic biomarkers such as interleukin-6 and C-reactive protein.

Glioma, as an aggressive type of cancer, accounts for virtually 80% of malignant brain tumors. Despite advances in therapeutic approaches, the long-term survival of glioma patients is poor (it is usually fatal within 12–14 months).

From chip-in-a-lab to lab-on-a-chip: towards a single handheld electronic system for multiple application-specific lab-on-a-chip (ASLOC) [PDF]
We present a portable, battery-operated and application-specific lab-on-a-chip (ASLOC) system that can be easily configured for a wide range of lab-on-a-chip applications. It is based on multiplexed electrical current detection that serves as the sensing

Disease-on-a-chip: mimicry of tumor growth in mammary ducts [PDF]
We present a disease-on-a-chip model in which cancer grows within phenotypically normal breast luminal epithelium on semicircular acrylic support mimicking portions of mammary ducts. The cells from tumor nodules developing within these hemichannels are morphologically distinct from their counterparts cultured on flat surfaces.

Towards establishing human body-on-a-chip systems
Body-on-a-chip (BoC) platforms are established from multiple organs-on-chips (OoCs) to recapitulate the interactions between different tissues. Recently, Vunjak-Novakovic and colleagues reported the creation of a BoC system comprising four fluidically ...
