MGL‐Based Drug Conjugate: A Novel Glycan‐Targeting Strategy for Potential Precision Cancer Therapy

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 5, May 2026.
An engineered macrophage galactose‐type lectin (MGL)‐based conjugate (mMGL‐vcMMAE), incorporating an exposed cysteine for site‐specific drug linkage, preserves stability, binding profile, and affinity of the native MGL carbohydrate recognition domain. It also selectively targets Tn/STn‐expressing cancer cells and shows recognition of colorectal cancer ...

Targeting the nuclear export receptor exportin‐1 in acute myeloid leukaemia: From biology to clinical translation

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
• XPO1 hyperactivation promotes leukaemogenesis by altering nucleocytoplasmic transport and transcriptional control in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). • Selinexor and eltanexor show preferential activity in NPM1‐mutated, DEK::NUP214‐positive and SF3B1‐mutated myeloid neoplasms.

Host Factor Induced Bacterial Extracellular Vesicles Promote Horizontal Gene Transfer in Vibrio cholerae

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Antimicrobial stressors, that is, bile or mitomycin C, induce enlarged, nucleic acid‐rich bacterial extracellular vesicles in Vibrio cholerae that facilitate horizontal gene transfer in vitro and during intestinal colonisation. The findings provide a detailed comparison of control versus stress‐induced vesicles, identify bile as a host factor shaping ...

Exceptional Longevity Modifying Allele APOE2 Promotes DNA Signaling Pathways Resisting Cellular Senescence in Human Neurons

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
Neurons expressing APOE2 were more resistant to endogenous DNA damage, activated transcriptional signaling pathways associated with DNA repair, and were resilient to stress‐induced DNA damage and cellular senescence. In contrast, APOE4 neurons exhibited elevated expression of rRNA repetitive elements and were prone to becoming senescent.

Inferring Gene Regulatory Network Architecture Underlying Complex Traits: An Integrative Analysis of Mutant Lifespan and Gene Expression Profiles Identifies Master Regulators and Key Functional Modules for Yeast Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
We developed a LASSO‐based approach to uncover a three‐layered “fan‐in fan‐out” network architecture for complex traits like yeast aging, showing that peripheral genes influence lifespan indirectly through master regulators, which converge on core functional modules (e.g., stress response, autophagy).

Environmental Enrofloxacin Exposure as a Modifiable Driver of Mitochondria‐Mediated Intestinal Aging and Barrier Dysfunction

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
Environmentally relevant enrofloxacin accelerates intestinal aging by impairing epithelial mitochondrial function, disrupting barrier integrity, and reshaping the gut microbiota. Mitochondrial restoration with pyrroloquinoline quinone alleviates hypoxia, inflammation, and gut damage.

The relationship between the cannabinoids and cardiac remodelling: A comprehensive review of pivotal mechanisms and emerging evidence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 9, Page 1747-1778, May 2026.
Cardiac remodelling and fibrosis after myocardial infarction or during chronic diseases, such as arterial and pulmonary hypertension or diabetes mellitus, continue to be the more important prognostic factors in determining survival, and so the search for effective anti‐fibrotic interventions is an important target for research and therapy in cardiology.
