Spermidine Reproduces the Anti‐Inflammatory Effects of Intermittent Fasting and Prevents Urate and Calcium Pyrophosphate Crystal‐Induced Inflammation

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Gout caused by the formation of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals and calcium pyrophosphate (CPP) deposition disease are two major types of microcrystalline pathologies in adults. They are responsible for recurrent flares that rely on interleukin (IL) 1β via activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome.

Rapeseeds a Rich Source of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
In human diet, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), have an essential role in optimal brain functions and stroke prevention, specially, omega-3 fatty acids, e.g., 9,12,15-linolenic acid (ALA, 18:3), 5,8,11,14,17-eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5), and 4,7 ...

Insights from meta‐analysis for efficient docosahexaenoic acid production in thraustochytrids through advanced cultivation and fermentation strategies

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This systematic review examines strategies for docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) production by thraustochytrids, focusing on cultivation techniques, fermentation technologies, and carbon/nitrogen optimization to increase productivity. Among 169 eligible articles, the 100 most productive studies (0.7–10.3 g DHA L−1 per day) were analyzed. Quantitative

Ratios of serum eicosapentaenoic acid to arachidonic acid and docosahexaenoic acid to arachidonic acid were inversely associated with serum resistin levels: The Hisayama Study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, 2020
Aims/Introduction Resistin is an adipocyte‐derived polypeptide that leads to the progression of insulin resistance and subsequent atherosclerosis. Some studies have reported an association between self‐reported intake of n−3 polyunsaturated fatty acids ...

Valorization of fishing industry by‐products for biodiesel production: Unlocking the potential of residual fish oil

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Fishing waste and its by‐products, whether naturally occurring or generated by the processing industry, represent a significant opportunity for producing high‐value products. These often discarded or underutilized residues can be converted into various valuable products through advanced processing technologies. Among the potential products are

Regression of Coronary Fatty Plaque and Risk of Cardiac Events According to Blood Pressure Status: Data From a Randomized Trial of Eicosapentaenoic Acid and Docosahexaenoic Acid in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2023
Background Residual risk of cardiovascular events and plaque progression remains despite reduction in low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol. Factors contributing to residual risk remain unclear.

Eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids attenuate hyperglycemia through the microbiome-gut-organs axis in db/db mice

open access: yesMicrobiome, 2021
Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) have been suggested to prevent the development of metabolic disorders. However, their individual role in treating hyperglycemia and the mechanism of action regarding gut microbiome and metabolome

Milk Fat Globule Membrane Supplementation Attenuates Cognitive Impairment in APP/PS1 Mice via Suppressing Neuroinflammation in a Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Serum Resolvin D1/Anandamide Manner

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
MFGM modulated gut microbiota accompanied by the increased serum RVD1 and AEA levels, which subsequently regulated the miRNA profile. This modulation alleviated neuroinflammation via suppressing the NLRP3 inflammasome signaling and microglial activation, thereby attenuating AD‐related cognitive impairment both in vivo and in vitro.
