Discovery, Herbicidal Activity and Biosynthesis of a Novel Natural Tetramic Acid from Alternaria Species

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 21, June 5, 2025.
The biosynthetic mechanism of novel natural tetramic acid S‐TeA in Alternaria alternata is elucidated. Threonine acts as a precursor for 2‐amino‐3‐methylhexanoic acid (AMHA) synthesis via eight key enzymes from the branched‐chain amino acid biosynthetic pathway in the mitochondrion, wherein three unique enzymes (IPMS, IPMDH, and ISMD) play critical ...

Rational Design of Single‐Domain Antibodies Targeting the Central Nervous System Neurite Outgrowth Inhibitor Nogo‐A

open access: yesApplied Research, Volume 4, Issue 3, June 2025.
The development of a nanobody for Nogo‐A, a potent neurite outgrowth inhibitor crucial in multiple sclerosis, is reported using a rational design approach. The nanobody targets the Nogo‐A ectodomain at the S1PR2 receptor‐binding region with submicromolar KD.

Evidence of Involvement of the Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in Restless Legs Syndrome

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 1148-1159, June 2025.
Abstract Background Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a common sensory‐motor disorder characterized by an urge to move the legs, often with unpleasant sensations, particularly during rest. Current treatments include iron supplementation, dopamine agonists, and opioids, but new therapeutic approaches are needed.

N‐ to C‐Peptide Synthesis, Arguably the Future for Sustainable Production

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 31, Issue 6, June 2025.
The advent of epimerization‐free methods for coupling in N‐ to C‐direction synthesis offers improved atom economy for sustainable peptide synthesis. ABSTRACT A revolution in peptide production arrived from the innovation of carboxylate to amine C‐ to N‐direction solid‐phase synthesis.

Proteo‐metabolomic insights for early dual physical and cognitive impairments: A search for biomarkers of healthy aging based on muscle–brain crosstalk

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 3, March 2025.
The study identified dysregulated fatty acid metabolism and inflammation as contributors to physio‐cognitive decline syndrome (PCDS). Sex‐specific metabolic disruptions were noted, with altered central carbon and tyrosine metabolism more pronounced in men and glutathione pathway perturbations more evident in women.

Catalytic Serine Labeling in Nonaqueous, Acidic Media

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 12, February 25, 2025.
Serine‐targeting protein bioconjugation has been a formidable challenge because of the modest reactivity of the alkyl alcohol group in aqueous media. This work demonstrates a biomolecule‐compatible, nonaqueous approach to achieve alkyl alcohol‐selective labeling through acid‐catalyzed esterification reactions, which offers a unique advantage over the ...

Rh‐Catalyzed Hydroamination of Allenes: Asymmetric N‐Allylation of Amino Acids and Peptides

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 2, Issue 5, September 9, 2024.
A rhodium‐catalyzed, atom‐economic method for the branched‐selective hydroamination of terminal allenes with α‐amino acid esters is reported. High levels of enantio‐ and diastereoselectivity were achieved by using commercially available ligands, with complete catalyst control demonstrated in several products.

Electroacupuncture attenuates retinal ischemia/reperfusion injury by protecting the outer blood-retina barrier via enkephalins activate delta opioid receptor

open access: yesWorld Journal of Acupuncture - Moxibustion
Objectives: Retinal ischemia-reperfusion (RIR) injury results in irreversible visual impairments. The disruption of the outer blood-retinal barrier (OBRB) is a major ocular pathogenic process that RIR injury affects.
