Marine-Derived Secondary Metabolites as Promising Epigenetic Bio-Compounds for Anticancer Therapy
Sessile organisms such as seaweeds, corals, and sponges continuously adapt to both abiotic and biotic components of the ecosystem. This extremely complex and dynamic process often results in different forms of competition to ensure the maintenance of an ...

(A) Post hoc pairwise comparisons between the four studied groups regarding the log2 of serum fold change of CircFUNDC1. There were significant differences between CRC, UC, or CD and controls. p values (Controls vs. UC = < 0.001, Controls vs. CD = < 0.001, Controls vs. CRC = < 0.001, UC vs. CD = 1.000, UC vs. CRC = 0.194, CD vs. CRC = 0.255).

Despite lacking DNMT3, EM‐seq revealed CpG methylation in the Colorado potato beetle. CUT&Tag analysis showed an association of H3K36me3 and H3K27ac with transcription, with H3K36me3 mirroring CpG methylation, demonstrating epigenetic flexibility.

A Developmental Network Theory of Gynandromorphs, Sexual Dimorphism and Species Formation [PDF]
Gynandromorphs are creatures where at least two different body sections are a different sex. Bilateral gynandromorphs are half male and half female. Here we develop a theory of gynandromorph ontogeny based on developmental control networks. The theory explains the embryogenesis of all known variations of gynandromorphs found in multicellular organisms.

Decoding Gene Expression Changes in Cerebral Tumors: Before and After Radiotherapy
ABSTRACT Cerebral tumors, particularly in pediatric patients, pose a significant challenge in oncology. Radiotherapy is a crucial component of the multimodal treatment approach for these tumors. Understanding the molecular basis of these tumors, particularly their response to radiotherapy, is crucial for improving treatment outcomes and patient ...

Insertion of short L1 sequences generates inter-strain histone acetylation differences in the mouse
Background Gene expression divergence between populations and between individuals can emerge from genetic variations within the genes and/or in the cis regulatory elements.

An Efficient Sufficient Dimension Reduction Method for Identifying Genetic Variants of Clinical Significance [PDF]
Fast and cheaper next generation sequencing technologies will generate unprecedentedly massive and highly-dimensional genomic and epigenomic variation data. In the near future, a routine part of medical record will include the sequenced genomes. A fundamental question is how to efficiently extract genomic and epigenomic variants of clinical utility ...

Over half of patients with colorectal cancer experience severe chemotherapy‐induced side effects. The B‐vitamin folate may play a role in these side effects, potentially by altering DNA methylation, a mechanism of gene regulation. Our comprehensive literature search identified studies investigating DNA methylation associated with folate status/intake ...
