Identification of a human epithelial cell surface protein sharing an epitope with the C3d/epstein‐barr virus receptor molecule of B lymphocytes

International Journal of Cancer, 1989
AbstractThis work examines the basis for our earlier observation that certain monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) specific for the B‐cell‐associated C3d/Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV) receptor molecule CD21 also react with the surface of some epithelial cells. Of 9 proven anti‐CD21 MAbs now examined on frozen sections of human nasopharynx, tonsil and ecto‐cervix ...

Identification of an epitope in the major envelope protein of Epstein-Barr virus that mediates viral binding to the B lymphocyte EBV receptor (CR2)

Cell, 1989
The Epstein-Barr virus gp350/220 envelope protein mediates virus attachment to the EBV/C3dg receptor (CR2) of human B lymphocytes. Synthetic peptides corresponding to two regions in gp350/220, which have a similar amino acid sequence with the complement C3dg protein, were used to identify a receptor binding epitope.

Suppression of Disease-Associated B Lymphocytes by GAD65 Epitope-Carrying Protein-Engineered Molecules in a Streptozotocin-Induced Mouse Model of Diabetes

Monoclonal Antibodies in Immunodiagnosis & Immunotherapy, 2019
Type 1 diabetes mellitus is an autoimmune syndrome defined by the presence of autoreactive T and B cells, which results in destruction of insulin-producing beta cells. Autoantibodies against GAD65 (glutamic acid decarboxylase 65)—a membrane-bound enzyme on pancreatic beta cells, contribute to beta cells' destruction and the loss of

B lymphocyte recognition of the self antigen mouse cytochrome C in different mouse strains: targeting of the same dominant epitope by naturally-occurring cells expressing distinct VH genes.

Molecular immunology, 1998
Previously we reported that, early in the antibody response of BALB/c mice to several cytochromes c (CYT) coupled to ovalbumin (OVA), B cells responding to the self antigen mouse CYT recognized a single site on mouse CYT and were in much higher frequency than B cells responding to foreign CYT.

Induction of Humoral and Cellular Immune Responses in Mice by Multiepitope Vaccines Composing of Both T and B Lymphocyte Epitopes of MAGE-A3 which are Recombined into HBcAg

Protein & Peptide Letters, 2018
Melanoma-associated antigen-A3 (MAGE-A3) is a tumor specific antigen and a potential candidate for cancer immunotherapy. We had screened three immunodominant multiepitopes of MAGE-A3, and identified these multiepitope peptides had significantly higher reactivity to serum samples from gastric cancer patients.

Cross-linking of a sequential epitope within the β-chain of HLA-DR/DP molecules suppressing B lymphocyte growth and inducing homotypic cell aggregation

Immunology Letters, 1994
A monoclonal antibody (SU2) directed against HLA class II antigens has been produced by immunizing BALB/c mice with a lymphoblastoid cell line, RPMI-8866 cells. The specificity of this mAb has been determined using a panel of HLA class II transfectants. SU2 stained all HLA-DR and HLA-DP transfectants tested, but reacted with only one HLA-DQ (HLA-DQw2).

Immunogenicity of a Multiepitope Plasmid DNA Encoding T and B Lymphocyte Epitopes from Latent Membrane Protein 2 (LMP2) of Epstein-Barr Virus as a Vaccine in Mice

Protein & Peptide Letters, 2013
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a human oncogenic herpesvirus associating with several malignant diseases. Latent membrane protein 2 (LMP2) of EBV is considered to be an ideal candidate for immunotherapy or prophylactic EBV vaccine. We designed a LMP2 multiepitope containing T and B-cell epitope-rich peptides and constructed a recombinant plasmid ...

Epitope mapping of the site(s) of binding of Fcε RII/CD23 within human IgE. determination of the B lymphocyte-binding sites by use of synthetic peptides and anti-peptide antibodies representative of linear Fc sequences

Molecular Immunology, 1993
The work undertaken has investigated the structure-function relationship between IgE and its low affinity receptor on B lymphocytes. To identify sites on the IgE molecule which interact with the low affinity receptor (Fc epsilon RII/CD23), 10 different peptide sequences within the CH2, CH3 and CH4 domains of human IgE were selected according to charge,

Astrocytes and microglia in human brain share an epitope recognized by a B-lymphocyte-specific monoclonal antibody (LN-1).

The American journal of pathology, 1989
A B-lymphocyte-specific mouse monoclonal antibody, LN-1, recognizes two morphologic classes of glial cells in human brain. The nature and duration of tissue fixation and processing are critical in the detection of the two cell types. In tissue that is lightly fixed, LN-1 recognizes astrocytes.

Triggering of B lymphocytes through CD23: epitope mapping and studies using antibody derivatives indicate an allosteric mechanism of signalling.

Immunology, 1987
By using five monoclonal antibodies in reciprocal cross-locking studies, a minimum of three epitope clusters have been defined for the B-cell restricted, activation-associated CD23 antigen. Two of the five antibodies were capable of replacing low molecular weight B-cell growth factor (BCGF) in B-cell co-stimulation assays. These two antibodies belonged
