Sex differences in G protein-coupled estrogen receptor-mediated mechanisms in preclinical models of anxiety and fear

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience
Sex differences are well-documented in the prevalence of psychiatric disorders, with anxiety and stress-related conditions more common in women.

A Biomarker‐Driven Ovary–Endometrium Organ‐on‐a‐Chip Mimicking 3D Multicellular Complexity and Menstrual Cyclicity for Predicting Reproductive Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a dual‐organ, biomarker‐integrated ovaryendometrium organ‐on‐a‐chip that recapitulates 3D tissue complexity, menstrual cycle dynamics, and hormonal crosstalk. This platform enables real‐time, cell‐typespecific fluorescent readouts of reproductive toxicity using ANGPTL4 and SERPINB2 as early‐response reporters.

Comparison of FGF-8, FGF-10, FGF-Receptor 2, Androgen Receptor, Estrogen Receptor-A and SS in Healthy and Hypospadiac Children

open access: yesBalkan Journal of Medical Genetics
In this study, we aimed to investigate the levels of Fibroblast Growth Factor-8 (FGF-8), FGF-10, FGF-Receptor-2 (FGFR-2), Androgen receptor (AR), Estrogen receptor alpha and beta (ER-α and ER-β) in the foreskins of children with and without hypospadias.

Estrogen receptor beta--a new dimension in estrogen mechanism of action [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Endocrinology, 1999
The cloning of estrogen receptor (ER ) has provided the first example of a steroid hormone receptor existing as two isoforms, each of which is encoded by a separate gene (Kuiper et al. 1996). The finding of ER was met with great surprise, as the existence of more than one estrogen receptor had been actively denied for several decades. Attempts to clone

Inhibition of SLC11A1‐Mediated Lysosomal Iron Accumulation in Microglia Promotes Repair Following White Matter Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Genetic and pharmacological inhibition of SLC11A1 functioning as an H+/Fe2+ antiporter–mediated lysosomal iron accumulation in microglia promotes lysosomal lumen acidification, increases CTSD expression, enhances lysosomal myelin debris uptake and degradation, and promotes repair following white matter stroke. ABSTRACT White matter stroke (WMS) results

Estrogen receptor-beta prevents cardiac fibrosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Development of cardiac fibrosis portends the transition and deterioration from hypertrophy to dilation and heart failure. Here we examined how estrogen blocks this important development.

Cyclin D1-mediated microRNA expression signature predicts breast cancer outcome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Genetic classification of breast cancer based on the coding mRNA suggests the evolution of distinct subtypes. Whether the non-coding genome is altered concordantly with the coding genome and the mechanism by which the cell cycle directly ...

TRIM38 Suppresses Breast Cancer Progression via Modulating SQSTM1 Ubiquitination and Autophagic Flux

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRIM38, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, suppresses breast cancer progression by inhibiting proliferation, migration, and invasion. Downregulated in breast tumor, its loss correlates with poor prognosis. Mechanistically, TRIM38 mediates K63‐linked ubiquitination of SQSTM1/p62 at K420, disrupting SQSTM1‐LC3 interaction and blocking autophagic flux.

Mammary Fat Can Adjust Prolactin Effect on Mammary Epithelial Cells via Leptin and Estrogen

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2009
Leptin, like estrogen, is one of the endo/paracrine factors, which are synthesized in and secreted from mature adipocytes. The roles of the mammary fat pad and mammary adipocytes in the initiation of lactation are not clear. In this study, we showed that
